City’s Spring Street Sweeping Program Begins April 28

City of Thunder Bay crews will be out on the roads to begin the spring street sweeping program, starting on Monday, April 28. Spring sweeping begins once temperatures consistently rise above zero and focuses on removing sand spread over the winter months on streets and sidewalks. Boulevard Garden Declaration System Now Available

Gardeners who want to plant a boulevard garden this growing season can now kick off the process to have a garden on their boulevard.

The City of Thunder Bay will allow gardeners to plant boulevard gardens this year with the new Boulevard Garden and Maintenance By-law. City Council ratified the By-law on February 24, requiring homeowners, property owners and tenants with a boulevard garden to complete the declaration and acknowledgement form.

Section of Red River Road to Close for Streetscaping Work

Beginning Tuesday, April 22, a section of Red River Road, between St. Paul Street and Court Street, will close to complete the final phase of the Reimagining the North Core Streetscapes project. Waste collection changes week before Easter

Curbside waste collection dates will change next week due to the Good Friday statutory holiday.

Garbage and recycling collection will move one day earlier for all residents. There will be no collection on Good Friday, April 18.


The following are the Easter holiday waste collection changes:

AREA 1 (Tuesday collection day): Collection moves to Monday, April 14

AREA 2 (Wednesday collection day): Collection moves to Tuesday, April 15
