Quest: Tech & Gaming, the City of Thunder Bay’s celebration of innovation, creativity, and play, returns to Fort William Gardens on Friday, May 9 (10am – 6 pm) and Saturday, May 10 (12 pm – 6pm) — and this year, it’s bigger than ever!

Seasonal Load Restrictions End on May 12

The City of Thunder Bay will lift seasonal load restrictions on Monday, May 12, at 7 am. These temporary weight limits, which began on March 24 in line with the Ministry of Transportation’s provincial guidelines, will no longer be in effect after this time.

These restrictions are put in place each spring to help protect roadways from damage while the ground thaws.

Temporary Road Closure on Hazelwood Drive

The City of Thunder Bay is advising residents that Hazelwood Drive, approximately 300 metres south of Melbourne Road, will be closed on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 8 am to 5 pm, to allow for an emergency culvert repair. Local traffic will be permitted up to the closure point, but through traffic is advised to seek alternate routes during this time. City resumes some animal services to better serve the public

The City of Thunder Bay’s Licensing & Enforcement Division will resume some services to better assist domestic animals, their owners, and the general public.

The changes include responding to complaints involving dogs and cats running at large in a more timely manner, and accepting animals at the Municipal Kennel who are found at-large. Lost pets taken into care will also be posted on the City’s website to alert their owners they have been found.

Two Leaf and Yard Waste Collections this Spring

This spring there will be two Leaf & Yard Waste curbside collections. The first will take place between May 13 and 23, and the second between June 10 and 20 - on residents’ regular recycling days.
