Two Leaf and Yard Waste Collections this Fall

This fall there will be two Leaf & Yard Waste curbside collections. The first will take place between Oct. 1 and 11, and the second four weeks later, between Oct. 29 and Nov. 8 - on residents’ regular recycling days.

“We’re pleased to provide two collections this fall,” said Jason Sherband, Manager of Solid Waste & Recycling Services. “We’re hoping residents will take advantage of the opportunity to put out additional bundles of brush, leaves and yard waste over the two collections.”

Lanes reduced on Water Street for watermain repair

Lane reductions will be in place today on Water Street South near the intersection with Cumberland Street as crews complete watermain repairs.

Motorists are advised to use caution and expect traffic delays in the area. Repairs are expected to be completed Friday evening.

City proclaims Monarch Butterfly Appreciation Day

In recognition of the importance of pollinators like the Monarch Butterfly and the efforts of those who protect them, the City of Thunder Bay officially proclaimed Sept. 18 as Monarch Butterfly Appreciation Day.

The proclamation was made in honour of the late Dan Fulton, who created the Butterfly Garden on Adelaide Street and inspired many residents to get involved in supporting the Monarch and other pollinators.

Ontario Culture Days Begin Sept. 20 in Thunder Bay
