City to host Kashechewan First Nation Evacuees

The City of Thunder Bay has been requested by Indigenous Services Canada to assist Kashechewan First Nation by hosting vulnerable members of their community due to ongoing issues with the community’s Water Treatment Plant. Approximately 200 individuals have been identified for evacuation.
The Municipal Emergency Control Group convened yesterday to discuss this urgent request and has agreed that Thunder Bay will serve as a host community.

Students from Confederation College's post-graduate Health Informatics program showcased their capstone research projects today, sharing health indicator findings that will inform the City of Thunder Bay’s next Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.

After numerous revisions and incorporating public input, the proposed Boulevard Garden and Maintenance By-law will be presented to Thunder Bay City Council on Monday night.

Water bill delivery delayed for some residents

Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike the delivery of water bills has been delayed for residents in Section 1, which includes the Red River, Current River, Woodcrest and Grandview areas, as well as remote and country areas such as Rosslyn and Riverdale.

New paid parking hours in effect across Thunder Bay

Effective today, the hours of paid parking across Thunder Bay are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Paid parking is found at surface lots across the city, the waterfront, and at on-street meters found in the downtown cores and Westfort area.
These new hours replace the previous hours that had paid parking enforced from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. The hours have changed due to a change in the Parking By-law, approved by Council on Monday, December 9.
