Outdoor Skating Rinks Closing for the Season

March 9, 2018 - Due to warmer weather conditions, many outdoor rink sites have closed for the season. Crews will attempt to maintain as many ice surfaces as possible to keep them in service through the March break. 

Updates related to rink closures are available at thunderbay.ca/rinks 

As of Monday, March 12, the change room facilities at the supervised rink sites will be open from 9 am - 4 pm. On Saturday, March 17, all rinks will be closed for the season.

Thunder Bay and Duluth Holding a Sister Cities Chef Swap

March 9, 2018 - As part of Thunder Bay's Sister Cities relationship with Duluth, the two cities will be holding a chef swap. This means that a chef from each city will be trading restaurants for two special dining events.

On Monday, March 12, Lake Avenue Restaurant and Bar's chef will be at Red Lion Smokehouse in Thunder Bay.

On Monday, April 23, Red Lion Smokehouse's chef will be at Lake Avenue Restaurant in Duluth.

March 1, 2018 - In response to media reports today of racially motivated incidents of eggs being thrown from vehicles and striking pedestrians, Acting Mayor Paul Pugh made the following comment on behalf of City Council and Administration:
