November 7, 2016 - Two individuals and three community projects were recognized this evening during the sixth Annual Mayor's Community Safety Awards ceremony for their work to make Thunder Bay a safer community.

CUPE Local 87 Advises its Members Vote to Accept City's Offer

November 4, 2016- The Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 87 advised the City this evening that its Union membership has voted to accept the City's offer.

November 5, 2016 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue honored both new and veteran firefighters at a Long-Service and New Recruit Graduation Ceremony today at the Thunder Bay Fire & Emergency Services Regional Training Complex. SAFE Program Gets Big Donation from Union Gas

November 4, 2016 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue received a $5000 donation of combination smoke/CO alarms today from Union Gas for Thunder Bay Fire Rescue's SAFE program (Smoke/CO Alarms For Everyone).

The SAFE program is an assistance-based program geared towards local home owners that require assistance with the acquisition or installation of smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms.

Waste & Recycling Collection Moves One Day Earlier Next Week

November 3 - In all waste collection Areas and Zones, curbside garbage collection will occur one day early during the week of Nov. 6, due to Remembrance Day.

This change will also affect recycling and leaf and yard waste collection in AREA 1 - ZONE 1, AREA 2 - ZONE 1, AREA 3 - ZONE 1 and AREA 4 - ZONE 1.

There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Remembrance Day, Friday, Nov. 11.
