City Announces Movie Nights on the Waterfront Lineup

July 25, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the movie lineup for Movie Nights on the Waterfront. The Family Series starts Friday August 18, at Marina Park and runs Fridays and Saturdays until September 1. There also are three special screenings in the fall with the ThunderCon Movie Night Friday September 22, the Culture Days Screening Friday September 29th, and the Halloween Movie Night Friday October 27th.

Hep Net raises awareness about Hepatitis for World Hepatitis Day

July 24, 2017 - It's estimated approximately one in every 50 people are living with hepatitis C in Thunder Bay, but many do not know it. Today, a coalition of local agencies called Hep Net held a health fair at Victoriaville Mall to provide the public with information on hepatitis C prevention, testing and treatment. Provincially, hepatitis C infection rates have been decreasing; however, local rates have stayed stable so this awareness is important.

Community Spirit on Display for Special Olympics Games Bid

July 21, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay has taken the final step in the bid process to secure the 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games. Special Olympics Canada officials arrived in Thunder Bay on July 20 for a two-day site visit which included a tour of the proposed venues and a presentation by the local Bid Committee. It is anticipated the Games will be awarded during the week of August 14th to 18th, 2017. The finalists are Thunder Bay and Regina, Saskatchewan.
