Road Construction on Arthur Street Starts Next Week

Road construction and storm sewer work on Arthur Street, from Leland Avenue to James Street, begins the week of July 2.
The work will include the construction of storm sewer and pavement restoration on the north side of Arthur Street. It will also include trench activity and pipe installation in westbound traffic lanes, and repaving to the centre of the road.
Arthur Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction, and diverted to the south side of the road. There will be left-turn restrictions.

City Launches Engaging New Municipal Website

The City of Thunder Bay launched a new website today at City Hall aimed at enhancing access to City information and services and strengthening engagement with citizens.
Using a responsive design, the site is mobile friendly and built for accessibility, meeting AA accessible standards. Traffic to the City’s website continues to increase each year, with an average of 5,316 visitors a day to the site.

City’s AA Credit Rating Reaffirmed

Thunder Bay's strong budgetary performance, prudent financial management practices, low municipal debt burden, and excellent liquidity balances have led S&P Global Ratings to reaffirm the City`s credit rating of ‘AA’.

New Vehicle for Hire By-law Replaces Taxi By-law

The City of Thunder Bay has introduced a new by-law regulating vehicles for hire and designated driver services to improve public health and safety, and to provide consumer protection.
“The new by-law introduces a new type of licence – a designated driver business licence,” said James Coady, Manager – Licensing and Enforcement Division. “This process captures existing taxi and limousine-type services, and also new application-based services like Uber and designated driver services.”
