Skating at Prince Arthur's Landing Opens for the Season

December 1, 2016 - The waterfront skating rink at Prince Arthur's Landing officially opens today, Thursday, December 1, 2016. With the rink opening, the City is encouraging residents to come down to the waterfront and enjoy the many activities and facilities available to the public.

Tenant Pleads Guilty to Disabling Smoke Alarm

November 30, 2016 -A Simpson Street tenant pleaded guilty in Provincial Court last week to disabling a smoke alarm and was fined $1,000 plus court costs. 

The charge was a result of an investigation done by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue after a structural fire at a Simpson Street apartment building in June.  The tenant had removed the smoke alarm to paint and neglected to re-install it.

Calendar Parking Restrictions Now in Effect

November 22, 2016 - Due to weather conditions, city-wide calendar parking restrictions are coming into effect starting today.

"The implementation of calendar parking restrictions for this winter is based on recent snowfall, as well as the forecast, which is calling for more snow," said James Coady, Manager - Licensing and Enforcement. "Motorists are asked to obey posted calendar parking signs, and allow our crews to remove snow from City roadways more efficiently."

November 21, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay is seeking proposals for artwork that will be featured at events during the 2017 programming season. The Public Art Program has released two Calls to Artists for "SnowDay 2017 Snow Sculptures" and "Award Design for Thunder Bay Arts & Heritage Awards".

Youth Get an Opportunity to Train with a Pro This Winter

November 21 - Local youth are getting the chance to train alongside a local football hero at clinics in December called "˜Training with a Pro - The Football Edition'. The dry-land clinics are part of a new program being offered, where youth between the ages of 5 and 13 are given the opportunity to train with a local professional football player, all in support of P.R.O. Kids.
