City Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Strathcona Golf Course

The City of Thunder Bay is proud to celebrate a century of golf, community, and local heritage at Strathcona Golf Course, marking its 100th anniversary on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the course’s grounds, located at 500 Hodder Avenue.

City recommends 114 Miles St. East for Temporary Shelter Village

After nearly two years of extensive research, public input, and in-depth review, the City is recommending 114 Miles Street East as the site for the Temporary Shelter Village.

This decision follows a comprehensive process that began in 2022 when City Council endorsed a human rights-based approach to encampments. In April 2023, Council approved the Enhanced Encampment Response Plan – a 10-part action plan grounded in dignity, respect, and the right to housing.

Temporary Transit Terminal Location Starting July 14

Thunder Bay Transit is temporarily moving operations from the Waterfront Transit Terminal to a nearby location on Cumberland Street North starting Monday, July 14, 2025. This change is needed to allow for upgrades to the current terminal.

The temporary terminal will be located on Cumberland Street North between Van Norman Street and Camelot Street. That section of the street will be closed to regular traffic, but buses will still have access.

Free Landfill Tipping Fee Voucher supports tree clean-up re July 1 storm
