Thunder Bay, a city rich in history, archaeology, architecture and cultural heritage, is committed to preserving and promoting our past. Cultural heritage plays an important role in enriching our city, adding value, quality and diversity to our daily lives, and needs to be protected.
The City of Thunder Bay maintains a Heritage Register of properties and sites within the city that hold heritage value or interest as per Section 27 of the Ontario Heritage Act. These properties and sites have been identified by the City of Thunder Bay's Heritage Advisory Committee as holding cultural, historic, or architectural interest in relation to the city's heritage. As our city matures, our past shall not be lost to insensitive renovation or demolition, but retained as assets adding unique and irreplaceable value to our future.
