Community Invited to Show Support for Games Bid

June 20, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay submitted a bid proposal on June 16 to host the 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games.

The bid theme is "Hearts of Gold" to highlight Thunder Bay's community spirit and the the City's 50th Golden Anniversary year in 2020. The next step is to host a site visit by Special Olympics Canada officials during the first week of July. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Recognized by St. John Ambulance

June 15, 2017 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescues Public Education Officer, Anthony Stokaluk, has received a Provincial Certificate of Appreciation from St. John Ambulance for his assistance in establishing the home fire safety component in the St. John Ambulance grade 3 "˜We Can Help' and grade 6 "˜Lifesaver' school safety education programs. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue also supports the Camp 911 program that St. John Ambulance runs each summer.

Waterfront Splash Pad and Amenities Open for Season

June 15, 2017 - The Splash Pad and Water Garden Pavilion at Prince Arthur's Landing are now open for the season. Weather permitting the facilities will remain open until mid-September.

All ages are invited to enjoy the state-of-the-art Splash Pad, open daily from 11 am - 9 pm. The adjacent Water Garden Pavilion with change areas and public restrooms is also open 11 am - 9 pm daily.

Summer is almost here; celebrate at Prince Arthur's Landing.

City's CN Application Dismissed by Court

June 14, 2017 - The Superior Court of Ontario has dismissed the City of Thunder Bay's application for an order requiring CN to maintain the James Street Bridge. 

"We are disappointed with the decision, and are considering our options going forward," said Norm Gale, City Manager. "A full report will be brought to City Council soon. We will not be making any further comment at this time."
