Mayor Hobbs Declares June 4 Mining Day

June 2, 2016 - Thunder Bay will celebrate its rich mining heritage on June 4, which has been declared Mining Day by Acting Mayor Joe Virdiramo.
Councilor Virdiramo made the declaration at a ceremony today at Mariner's Hall at Prince Arthur's Landing. He was joined by representatives from the City of Thunder Bay, Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, and Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association.

Community Paramedicine Program Continues Into 2017

May 30, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to receive confirmation from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care that funding for the Community Paramedicine Program (CPP) will continue through March 2017.

May 26, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay supports the draft recommendations affecting the City put forth as part of a Joint Slate to the Jury for consideration at the joint inquest into the tragic deaths of Jethro Anderson, Reggie Bushie, Robyn Harper, Kyle Morrisseau, Paul Panacheese, Curran Strang, and Jordan Wabasse. The seven youth died after leaving their home communities to pursue secondary education in Thunder Bay.

Work at Pumping Station May Cause Discoloured Water

May 24, 2016 - On Wednesday, May 25 a controlled shutdown of the Chamberlain Pumping Station will be carried out to facilitate the ongoing capital upgrade, which involves replacing aging infrastructure at the Station.
Beginning at 7 pm on May 25, several distribution valves will be closed, temporarily isolating the Chamberlain Pumping Station from the water distribution system. As the capital upgrade proceeds, additional shutdowns will be required to complete the work.
