2019 Road Work Season Underway

The City of Thunder Bay is investing $30 million in 2019 on road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sanitary and storm sewers, watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work, and streetlight renewal.
This month marks the start of a busy road work season in Thunder Bay, and road work can result in road closures, detours and delays for drivers. All residents are reminded to reduce their speed, be alert, watch for workers, and drive with extra care in construction zones.

Residents Invited to Celebrate National Public Works Week

Residents are invited to celebrate National Public Works Week at a free open house this weekend that will highlight and celebrate the work that public servants do to keep our city running.

The City is reminding motorists to exercise extra caution in construction zones by slowing down and driving safely.
Spring marks the start of a busy road construction season and projects will increase in the coming weeks. Construction crews are required to follow strict safety protocols and traffic control measures. Members of the public are asked to also do their part to keep workers and other travelers safe.

Reduced Load Restrictions Will Be Lifted Tuesday

The Reduced Load Restrictions that were implemented on March 15 within the city will be lifted on Tuesday, May 21 at 8 am.
Restrictions are put in place annually to protect city roads from damage during the spring thaw. Cooperation from residents helps prevent excessive damage to streets.

Parking Lot at Marina Park Boat Launch Closing for Construction

The parking lot at the Marina Park boat launch will be closed starting on Thursday, May 16 due to construction. The parking lot is expected to reopen on Monday, June 10.
One boat launch will remain accessible during the construction but may require sporadic short closures if construction at the time poses a risk to the boat launch users.
