Westbound Lanes to Close on Section of Oliver Road

The City of Thunder Bay is advising travelers that a section of Oliver Road will be closed to westbound traffic between August 24 and August 28.

Westbound lanes on Oliver Road will be closed between Ray Boulevard and Enniskillen Avenue starting on Monday, August 24. Sidewalks on the north side of Oliver Road between Dalton Avenue and Enniskillen Avenue will be closed during this time. Pedestrian access remains available through sidewalks on the south side of Oliver Road.

Road Work Ahead: August 2026 Construction Projects

August 7, 2026 – The City of Thunder Bay is sharing details of construction projects expected to impact vehicular, cycling, and pedestrian travel in the month of August.

The City is investing approximately $60 million in 2026 to maintain, improve, and expand Thunder Bay’s roads, bridges, sidewalks, trails, watermains, and other infrastructure that residents rely on every day.

Harbour Expressway Turn Lane to Close on July 7

The eastbound left-turn lane at the intersection of Harbour Expressway and Golf Links Road will be temporarily closed on Tuesday, July 7 to allow crews to pave a new additional turn lane at this intersection.

The existing turn lane is expected to reopen by 5:00 pm on July 7. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes while the closure is in place.

July 2, 2026 – The eastbound left turn lane at the Harbour Expressway and Golf Links Road intersection will be closed to traffic today, Thursday, July 2, to allow for roadway improvements.

Victoria & Archibald Intersection to Close

The intersection of Victoria Avenue East and Archibald Street North will be closed starting on Monday, June 29 to allow for underground infrastructure work and resurfacing.

Pedestrian access will remain available during the closure of the intersection.

This work supports the Reimagine Victoriaville project and revitalization of Thunder Bay’s south core, which are priorities in the City’s Smart Growth Action Plan.
