Lanes to be Reduced on Arthur Street for Repaving

Lane reductions will be in place on Arthur Street West between Highway 61 and Parkdale Boulevard starting on Monday, May 11, as the City of Thunder Bay carries out resurfacing work.

At least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction during the work, which is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, depending on weather conditions. Sidewalk access will not be impacted.

Section of John Street Road Closed Friday for Storm Sewer Repair

A section of John Street Road will be closed on Friday, May 1 to allow for storm sewer repairs.

Starting at 6am on Friday, John Street Road will be closed between Valley Street and Mercier Street. A detour will be available via Mercier Street and Hutton Park Drive.

Access will be available for local traffic only between Mercier Street and Chercover Drive, and for the Tim Hortons and gas station off of John Street Road. 

The roadway is expected to reopen by Friday evening.

Sweeping of Thunder Bay Streets Underway

City of Thunder Bay crews will be out on the roads to begin the spring street sweeping program, starting on Monday, April 27.

Spring sweeping begins once temperatures consistently rise above zero and focuses on removing sand spread over the winter months on streets and sidewalks. Downtown core areas, bike lanes, and arterial and collector streets are completed first, before operations move into residential areas.
