Recreation 55 Activators

Activators host recreation programs for people 55 plus throughout Thunder Bay, including: Fun Active Babes (FABS), Retirement Explorers, Wit Knits, Lakehead University Hangar Walks on Tuesdays and Fridays, Aqua Energizers on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the summer months, summer outdoor walking programs, summer mixed slo pitch league, and much more. Become a Recreation 55 Activator

Recreation 55 Activators are a group of volunteers who bring leadership, energy, and experience to Recreation 55 Community Projects. Activators encourage others to be active and involved in the community. As an Activator, you can:

  • Lead walks;
  • Energize programs;
  • Host events; and
  • Feel like you are contributing to your community is a healthy and positive way.

To apply as an Activator, please print the Recreation 55 Activator Cover Letter and Volunteer Application Form.

Superior Hearing's FREE Walking Program

Location: Lakehead University Hangar, 955 Oliver Road

Date: January 15 to April 12, 2019

Tuesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Note: Parking pass required at a rate of $1.25 per hour. Please see the parking booth outside the main doors.

Important: Please bring indoor shoes for walking on the track. Also, please use the main entrance; the side track entrance and parking may only be used for individuals with mobility devices and/or requirements.

 

Thunder Bay Public Library's FREE Wit Knits Drop-In

Location: Mary J.L. Black Library, 901 Edward Street South

Date: Thursdays from January 10 to April 25, 2019

Time: 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

A FREE drop-in session with no instruction. Knit while you socialize!

 

Thunder Bay Public Library's FREE Retirement Explorers Drop-In

Location: Mary J.L. Black Library, 901 Edward Street South

Date: Fridays from January 11 to April 26, 2019

Time: 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Join others who are retired or thinking of retirement to discuss things to do and places to see in Thunder Bay. Make connections with new people and explore the benefits that retirement has to offer. These sessions are FREE.

 

Bocce Ball Mixed League $2.00 Drop-In

Location: Da Vinci Centre, 340 Waterloo Street South

Date: Thursdays from January 17 to April 25, 2019

Time: 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Cost: $2.00 Drop-In Fee for Anyone 55 Plus

Important: Please bring indoor shoes and a water bottle. Also, the Da Vinci Centre is open for coffee, tea, and juice, but no alcoholic beverages may be consumed while playing with the Bocce Ball 55 Plus Drop-In Group.
