Halloween Treats to be Handed Out in Areas Across City

October 27, 2016 - It started as a community prayer and unity walk on June 1, 2017, to honour the memory of all the youths that passed. On Sept. 29, 2017, North Caribou Lake First Nation, Fort William First Nation, City of Thunder Bay and Thunder Bay Police Service signed a Friendship Agreement to work together to strengthen Indigenous relations through co-operation in community development, public safety, anti-racism, education and social and cultural awareness.

Section of Memorial Avenue to Close for Railway Repairs

October 27, 2017 - A section of Memorial Avenue, from the Harbour Expressway to Isabel Street, will be closed to through traffic starting on Monday, Oct. 30. The closure is due to the rehabilitation of the CN Rail Crossing which involves new concrete panels and resurfacing the road.

Traffic will be detoured to Fort William Road between Harbour Expressway and Isabel Street, for the duration of the work. Detour signs will be posted.

There will still be access to businesses within the closure limits....

October 26, 2017 - Recently, residents in the McLaughlin Street area have been receiving telemarketing offers or home visits from a business trying to sell water filtration systems.

Curbside Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Begins Next Week

October 26, 2017 - Curbside collection of organic leaf and yard waste collection will take place from Oct. 31 - Nov. 10 on regular recycling days.

Leaf and yard waste should be placed at the curb with recyclables on the regular recycling day, as indicated on the waste collection calendar with a leaf symbol. 

Only Kraft (paper) bags of leaf and yard waste will be accepted. There is no bag limit, but bags must not weigh more than 40 lbs. (18 kg).

October 23, 2017 - The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) and the Canada-India Business Council (C-IBC) met with various stakeholders at a breakfast session at the Valhalla Inn to discuss "Doing Business with India".
