Exemption to Garbage Item Limit after Victoria Day

May 18, 2018 - A residential household can put out an additional item of garbage, to a maximum of three items, at no additional cost during the first collection day after Victoria Day only. A tag is not required for the third item.
This change is a result of Solid Waste Collection System Changes approved by City Council in 2017.

Fire Ban Continues Into Long Weekend

May 18, 2018 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue reminds residents of the fire ban on all outdoor burning within the City of Thunder Bay this long weekend. The ban on outdoor burning is consistent with the recent Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests Restricted Fire Zone declaration.
Residents should be aware that setting off fireworks during a fire ban violates the City's fireworks by-law. By-law violations will be enforced by City of Thunder Bay by-law officers.

Habitat ReStore to Collect Used Items at Landfill May 22-26

May 18, 2018 - ReStore Week at the Solid Waste & Recycling Facility on Mapleward Road takes place Tuesday, May 22 - Saturday, May 26. During this special week, residents visiting the landfill can donate gently used building materials, appliances, cabinets, furniture, tools, plumbing and electrical materials to Habitat for Humanity's tent - located after the weigh scales, near the public drop-off bins. Habitat Volunteers will be on site at the Landfill accepting reusable household items.

May 18, 2018 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue reminds all campers to protect their families and guests from fire and carbon monoxide (CO) this camping season.
"Fire safety is just as important away from your home as it is at your home," said Fire Chief John Hay. "Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are the early warning systems that give you the valuable time needed to escape tragedy."

Section of Dawson Road to be Reduced to One Lane of Traffic

May 18, 2018 - A section of Dawson Road, between Hunter Road and Hazelwood Drive, will be reduced to one lane of traffic due to asphalt resurfacing work after the May long weekend.
Construction is scheduled to start on Tuesday, May 22 and is expected to take up to three weeks to complete.
The construction schedule is subject to change as various factors, such as weather, can have an impact on project timelines.
