Big Band Night at Live on the Waterfront

August 22, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce the lineup of talented local musicians featured at Live on the Waterfront on August 23.  

The evening will start off with the Roy Coran Big Band and the Thunder Bay Community Band. Enjoy the powerful sounds of these big bands as they perform a variety of crowd favourites. 

The evening will close out with a performance by James Boraski & Momentary Evolution.  Don't miss their original contemporary roots and rockin' blues...

City Council Considers Letter of Intent with Matawa

August 22, 2017 - City Council will be considering authorizing a Letter of Intent with Matawa First Nations Management at Committee of the Whole on August 28.

The report recommends that the City grant the former Grandview Lodge building and property to Matawa for the purpose of redeveloping it as a Student Education and Care Centre for high school students from Matawa First Nations.

August 20, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is implementing precautionary measures to prevent harm to residents and/or visitors that may be caused by Monday's partial eclipse of the sun.  Looking directly at an eclipse of the sun, even if partial, can result in permanent eye damage due to the infrared and ultraviolet radiation emitted from the sun.  The risk to the eyes of children is most significant as their eyes are still developing and they may be the most likely to look at the sun out...

Youth Get Unique Opportunity to Learn from the Pros

August 21, 2017 - Training with a Pro: the Baseball Edition hit it out of the park this Sunday, Aug. 20. The newest addition to the Training with a Pro series saw 29 youth practice their baseball skills alongside former local baseball pros. The fundraiser also generated over $1,400 in support of PRO Kids.

Ceremony to Officially Open the Lake Superior Water Trail

 August 18, 2017 - The ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the western end of the 1,000 km Lake Superior Water Trail is taking place on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 4 pm at Lorne Allard Fisherman's Park. The Lake Superior Water Trail runs between Thunder Bay and Whitefish Bay along the North Shore and is an important link in the 24,000 km Trans Canada Trail now known as the Great Trail.
