Local Crossing Guards Highlight Safety ConcernsCrossing guards in Thunder Bay are drawing attention to an alarming number of safety incidents in school crossing zones, during a schoolyear in which two Ontario crossing guards have been fatally struck by vehicles.
The problem was highlighted this month with a police enforcement campaign, as well as incident reporting by crossing guards.

City Receives Award for Financial ReportingFor the second straight year, the City of Thunder Bay earned a Canadian Award for Financial Reporting in recognition of excellence in its Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024. The honour was presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
Sweeping of Thunder Bay Streets UnderwayCity of Thunder Bay crews will be out on the roads to begin the spring street sweeping program, starting on Monday, April 27.
Spring sweeping begins once temperatures consistently rise above zero and focuses on removing sand spread over the winter months on streets and sidewalks.
