  • 2016 Road Work Season Continues

    June 9, 2016 - The road work season in Thunder Bay is now underway. Projects to be undertaken in 2016 include road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sewer and watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work and streetlight renewal.

    June 7, 2016 - Today has been proclaimed Weed Out Hate Day in Thunder Bay. Mayor Keith Hobbs along with children and staff from Little Lions Waldorf Daycare & Kindergarten and McKellar Park School planted sunflowers as a commitment to peace in Thunder Bay.

  • City Announces 2016 Canada Day Festivities

    June 7, 2016 - The Recreation & Culture Division announced details of the upcoming Canada Day festivities, which are scheduled for Friday, July 1, at Marina Park.

    With past attendance estimated at over 20,000, Canada Day remains Thunder Bay's largest annual single-day event.

  • Boil Water Advisory Issued for Trowbridge Campground

    June 2, 2016 - A boil water advisory will be in effect for Trowbridge Falls Campground when it opens for the season on Friday, June 3.

    While the distribution system has been chlorinated and flushed, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) issued the boil water advisory as final water quality test results have not yet been received.

  • Curbside Battery Recycling Program Returns Tuesday (1)

    June 2, 2016 - The City's Curbside Battery Recycling Program returns on June 7, giving residents an opportunity to conveniently and safely recycle spent household batteries.

    "This program has proven to be a very popular and successful one," said Jason Sherband, Manager - Solid Waste and Recycling Services.

  • City on the Hunt for Invasive Emerald Ash Borer

    June 2, 2016 - Residents may notice new green prism traps hanging from City trees this summer.  These detection traps will be used to monitor for the presence of Emeral Ash Borer (EAB) in Thunder Bay.

  • Mayor Hobbs Declares June 4 Mining Day

    June 2, 2016 - Thunder Bay will celebrate its rich mining heritage on June 4, which has been declared Mining Day by Acting Mayor Joe Virdiramo.

    Councilor Virdiramo made the declaration at a ceremony today at Mariner's Hall at Prince Arthur's Landing.

  • Community Paramedicine Program Continues Into 2017

    May 30, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to receive confirmation from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care that funding for the Community Paramedicine Program (CPP) will continue through March 2017.

    "We are very happy to learn that Community Paramedicine can continue another year and that Thunder Bay is being recognized for its ongoing leadership, efforts, and
    contributions to improving health care in Ontario through our local community
    paramedicine initiatives," said Mayor Keith Hobbs.

  • Be a Local in The Know This Summer

    May 30, 2016 - Tourism Thunder Bay invites local residents to help celebrate Tourism Week in Thunder Bay by getting to know our own city better and being good tourism ambassadors.

    Residents are encouraged to visit the recently renovated Terry Fox Visitor Center on Highway 11/17 E, from May 30 - June 5.

  • City Makes Recommendations to Joint Inquest

    May 26, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay supports the draft recommendations affecting the City put forth as part of a Joint Slate to the Jury for consideration at the joint inquest into the tragic deaths of Jethro Anderson, Reggie Bushie, Robyn Harper, Kyle Morrisseau, Paul Panacheese, Curran Strang, and Jordan Wabasse. The seven youth died after leaving their home communities to pursue secondary education in Thunder Bay.
