Boulevard Lake to Remain Open for Recreational Use
June 3, 2015 - Work scheduled for the Boulevard Lake Dam Rehabilitation project has been delayed, and the lake will not be drained this summer. The dam walkway will also remain open to the public, and the lake will be available for recreational use
The project is subject to the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change's Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process, which allows stakeholders to voice concerns with the project.
Crossing Guard Appreciation Day Celebrated This WeekJune 2, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay is once again celebrating the individuals that continue to make its crossing guard program a success with the 10th annual Crossing Guard Appreciation Day on Friday, June 5.
The crossing guard program has been in place since 1947; currently, 64 crossing guards are employed by the City of Thunder Bay.
Thunder Bay Prime Opportunity in Contact Centre WorldMay 27, 2015 - The City is reaching out to expanding contact centres around the world to locate in the City-owned state of the art, turn-key space in VictoriaVille Mall. The 38,000-sq-ft space, capable of employing over 400 persons, is being marketed globally by contact centre specialist Laurence Himel of the Toronto-based Cityspace Real Estate following a request for proposal process.
Boulevard Lake Master Plan Scheduled for Completion in JulyMay 27, 2015 - The in-progress Boulevard Lake Area Improvement Plan has moved on to its next phase after a consultation period, stakeholder meetings and a final Open House held May 26.
The plan, currently in development by consulting firm Environmental Design Solutions (EDS) Group Inc.
Portion of Boulevard Lake Multi-Use Trail ClosedMay 26, 2015 – A portion of the walking trail around Boulevard Lake is closed to the public effective May 26.
The section of trail is on the southwest side of the lake, near the intersection of Lyon Boulevard and Arundel Street.
Harbour Expressway Repaving Delayed AgainMay 26, 2015 - The start of the resurfacing of the Harbour Expressway between Highway 11/17 and Golf Links Road has been delayed due to an equipment malfunction.
The contractor in charge of the project noticed the issue during routine maintenance on Tuesday, May 26.
Draft Corporate Strategic Plan Now Available for Public ReviewMay 26, 2015 - A draft of the 2015-2018 Corporate Strategic Plan is now available for citizens to review until June 4.
The plan will outline City Council's priorities and initiatives for the next four years and beyond.
Join Community Celebration as Pan Am Games Torch Relay ArrivesMay 22, 2015 - The TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay, presented by President's Choice and OLG, is coming to Thunder Bay on Sunday, May 31. A free Community Celebration, including a pancake breakfast and interactive displays and activities, will be held at City Hall to welcome the torch.
Harbour Expressway Repaving Delayed Due to WeatherMay 25, 2015 - The start of the resurfacing of the Harbour Expressway between Highway 11/17 and Golf Links Road has been delayed due to a forecast of rain and will now begin on Wednesday, May 27.
The work was initially scheduled to begin on May 25.
