    March 17, 2015 - Heavy load restrictions will come into effect for the City of Thunder Bay beginning at 8 am on Friday, March 20.

    Heavy load restrictions are put into place annually to protect City roads from damage during the spring thaw.

  • Failure to Install Smoke Alarms Earns Charge

    March 17, 2015 - A Victoria Avenue property owner has been charged for failing to install smoke alarms as required by the Ontario Fire Code after Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a structural fire at the residence on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.

    Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control after rescuing a female occupant who had reentered the burning structure.

  • Easy Steps to Disposing Needles if Found Outside

    March 17, 2015 - As temperatures warm and snow begins to melt, the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy is reminding residents to take care if they find a discarded needle.

    "The majority of individuals who use injection drugs take responsibility for safely and properly disposing of their equipment, including needles," said Anne Ostrom, Acting Coordinator - Thunder Bay Drug Strategy.

    March 9, 2015 - Thunder Bay residents will have another opportunity to provide feedback on the City's in-progress Stormwater Management Master Plan at a special open house event on Wednesday, March 11.

    The event runs from 4-8 pm at the Italian Cultural Centre.

    March 6, 2015 -Thunder Bay Fire Rescue reminds the community to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms when they change their clocks for the start of Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, March 8.

    "Every "˜time change' is an opportunity to educate the community about the importance of changing and testing the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, " said Public Education Officer Anthony Stokaluk.
