City Recognizes Exceptional Youth in Our Community
May 5, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay Recreation and Culture Division held an awards ceremony to recognize youth for their accomplishments and contributions to our community. Five individual awards and two community organization awards were presented this evening at the Kinsmen Youth Centre.
Spring Curbside Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Begins May 9May 5, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay's spring curbside collection of organic leaf and yard waste will take place from May 9 - 19, on resident's regular recycling days.
Homeowners must use Kraft (paper bags) for garden waste.City Welcomes Announcement of Provincial Funding for New JailMay 4, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay welcomes the announcement from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services that funding has been approved for the construction of a new 325-bed multi-purpose correctional centre to replace the existing Thunder Bay Jail and Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.
"We appreciate the Province's commitment in supporting the long-term transformation of the correctional system," said Mayor Keith Hobbs.
Help Celebrate Neighbourhoods in Jane's Walk FestivalMay 3, 2017 - Members of the Crime Prevention Council and Strong Neighbourhoods Working Group announced the 7th Annual Jane's Walk Festival taking place this coming weekend, where Thunder Bay residents will take to the streets to participate in a variety of walks around city neighbourhoods.
Local volunteers will be leading nine, free neighbourhood walks that encourage citizens to get to know their city and each other.
Chippewa Wildlife Exhibit UpdateMay 2, 2017 - The Chippewa Wildlife Exhibit officially closed Monday as approved during the 2017 Municipal Budget deliberations.

Transfers of the animals from the Chippewa Wildlife Exhibit are being coordinated through an animal transporter, who has already transferred four foxes and one bobcat.
Citizen Satisfaction Survey UnderwayMay 2, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay has commissioned Ipsos, a professional public opinion research company, to conduct the 2017 Citizen Satisfaction Survey by telephone to a random selection of residents.
The survey will take place over the next two weeks and includes a wide range of topics including the most important issues facing the community, quality of like, importance of and satisfaction with municipal services, and communication needs.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms Provide Early WarningMay 2, 2017 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue have responded to four homes for carbon monoxide (CO) alarm calls in the past 14 days that were the result of CO being present in the residence. In each incident the occupants were alerted to the CO emergency by their CO alarms.
City Celebrates Youth and Arts in Our CommunityMay 1, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay kicked off National Youth Week with an official proclamation at City Hall today. Youth Week takes place annually from May 1 - 7, and celebrates the positive contributions that youth make to their communities, their achievements, and their volunteerism.
Garbage Collection Resumes FridayApril 28, 2017 - Garbage collection has resumed today, and all residents with Friday pickup on their Waste Collection Calendar can put their garbage at the curb as usual.
Residents can expect some delays throughout the day due to poor winter driving conditions.
