Kashechewan Evacuees Settling In Thunder Bay
May 2, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay welcomed just over 300 evacuees on Sunday, as planned, from flood-threatened Kashechewan First Nation locate near James Bay.

The City's response is a coordinated effort in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, Aboriginal Affairs Northern Development Canada, Community Care Access Centre, Local Health Integration Network, and the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Ontario (OFMEM).Second Installment of 2016 Tax Bill Due May 4April 29, 2016 - The second installment of the 2016 tax bill is due on Wednesday, May 4. The interim tax billing is based on 50 per cent of your 2015 tax rate and 2015 assessment.
Building Owner Found Guilty for Failing to Comply with Inspection Orders and Fire Code ChargesApril 28, 2016 - An Ambrose Street property owner was found guilty in Provincial Court Wednesday on two charges for failing to comply with an Inspection Order written by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue. In addition, the owner was found guilty of 14 additional fire code violations.
Discontinuation of Landfill Free Week Encourages Alternate Forms of Waste DisposalApril 26, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay will discontinue the annual Free Week at the Solid Waste & Recycling Facility in May as part of a recommended action item in the Solid Waste Management Strategy.
"The City is continuing to make progress in advancing the recommendations in the Solid Waste Management Strategy," said Jason Sherband, Manager - Solid Waste & Recycling Services.
Memorandum of Settlement Reached with EMSApril 26, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce that the City has reached a Memorandum of Settlement with Unifor Local 229 Superior North Emergency Medical Services Thunder Bay (SNEMS).

2016 Clean, Green & Beautiful Projects AwardedApril 25, 2016 - The Thunder Bay Courthouse, Northern Credit Union and Generator Insights, Strategy, Creative each were recognized at the Clean, Green & Beautiful Awards tonight during Council's Committee of the Whole meeting. The Pollinator Gardens at the Centennial Botanical Conservatory were also recognized with a Public Spaces Award for reaching Clean, Green & Beautiful standards.
Developing a Community Response to Maternal Substance UseApril 25, 2016 - The Thunder Bay Drug Strategy held the Working Towards a Community Response to Substance Use Pregnancy and Parenting event at the Sister Margaret Smith Centre today to help agencies better understand the unique needs of women who use substances that are pregnant or parenting.
"We have gathered key decision makers and front-line staff from numerous community agencies for this event to learn how to recognize and understand the needs of substance-involved women and their children,".
Provincial Funding Announced for New Active Transportation TrailApril 22, 2016 - The Province of Ontario is providing funding to the City of Thunder Bay to build a new 850 metre trail from Golf Links Road connecting to Confederation College through the Ontario Municipal Cycling Infrastructure Program (OMCIP).
The City of Thunder Bay, along with Confederation College, applied to the program for $325,000 in matched funding.
