The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to host Juno Winner Hawksley Workman at Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on Wednesday, July 10.

“Hawksley Workman is a great start to this year’s Live on the Waterfront, setting the tone for the soundtrack of the summer,” said Louisa Costanzo, Cultural Development & Event Supervisor.

 The City of Thunder Bay and Sister City Gifu City, Japan, united today in ringing the Peace Bell in both cities as a gesture of continued commitment to worldwide peace during the twelfth annual Peace Bell Ceremony held in our city at City Hall.

“Today, July ninth, we come together as two cities to mark the anniversary of the massive air raid on Gifu during the Second World War, and call for peace now and into the future,” said Mayor Bill Mauro.

Last month, the City of Kingston’s Mayor Bryan Paterson challenged Thunder Bay’s Mayor Bill Mauro to a friendly competition to see who could get the highest number of Commuter Challenge participants. The City of Kingston won the competition with 1,388 participants, while the City of Thunder Bay had 1,107.

The City of Thunder Bay and Confederation College celebrated the official grand opening of the McIntyre River Multi-Use Bridge today on-site with a ribbon cutting.

In 2017, the City was awarded $325,000 from the Ministry of Transportation’s Ontario Municipal Cycling Infrastructure Fund (OMCIP) for this project and the connecting trail.

Calling all teddy bears and their owners for the 37^th annual Teddy Bears Picnic taking place Tuesday, July 9, 2019. Parents, caretakers, children and their teddy bears are invited to Vickers Park for an afternoon of free crafts, activities and entertainment.

The intersection of Simpson Street at Bethune Street, which was closed to through traffic due to a water main break, has now been reopened. 

Traffic flow has returned to normal in the affected area.

The intersection of Simpson Street at Bethune Street is closed to through traffic due to a water main break now being assessed by City crews. Simpson Street is closed to traffic at Cummings Street and Cameron Street, and Bethune Street is also closed at Hardisty Street.
