The City of Thunder Bay is inviting talent, food vendors, event vendors, artists/ artisans and community groups to apply to participate in the City’s annual community events season.

The 2023 events season includes 19 event days, including two event series: Live on the Waterfront and Movie Nights in the Parks.

As a result of the recent spring weather, ice conditions at the City’s outdoor rinks are deteriorating and some rinks have been closed for the season and some others are now “boot-only”.

The following rinks are closed:

• Wilson Park rink
• Third & High Park rink
• Woodside Parkette pond
• Anten Parkette pond
• Picton Parkette pond
• Waddington Park loop
• Brent Park loop

The following rinks are boot-only:

• James Street South rink
• Minnesota Park rink

All other outdoor rinks currently remain open, including the rink at.

The City of Thunder Bay congratulates Crystal Wilson on 40 years of service as a Crossing Guard in the city.

Since March 10, 1983, Crystal Wilson has been safely helping students cross busy roadways on their way to and from school – never missing a day.

A report from Administration will be presented to City Council on March 6 recommending that a contract be awarded for significant maintenance and construction work at the Canada Games Complex.

Subject to Council’s approval, the facility will close for approximately four months, beginning on June 4.

Water service to Mount Forest Blvd area has now been restored, after water service work in the area necessitated a shutdown of the water main feeding all services north of Hwy 61 west of Mount Forest Blvd, and west of and including Mountain Rd.

Residents in the area may notice discolouration of the water from their taps.

The City of Thunder Bay Archives is excited to announce a new online tool to make searches of their collection even easier. Their new public search portal now allows anyone to search “finding aids” (the titles and descriptions of historical records) online.

The recent cold weather has allowed crews to restore the ice surfaces at the City’s outdoor rinks. Rinks will reopen on Friday, Feb.

As part of the province’s Streamline Development Approvals Fund, the City is undertaking the Thunder Bay Housing Land Needs Study and Strategy.
