    June 23, 2015 - After seven years, City Manager Tim Commisso announced today he is retiring at the end of October 2015.

    "He is a dedicated City Manager and has been an effective Administrative leader and advisor to successive City Councils," said Mayor Keith Hobbs.

  • Floodway Walking Trail Closing due to Dredging

    June 19, 2015 - The walking trail on the north side of the Neebing-McIntyre Floodway from Island Drive east to the lakeshore will close to the public as of Wednesday, June 25 while the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) dredges the floodway.

    The LRCA, which is responsible for dredging the floodway and owns the property on either bank, has indicated the fill will need to be stored on the trail until it's hauled away in the fall.

    The closure is expected to be in effect from 8 am to 4:30 pm.

    June 18, 2015 - Thunder Bay's strong budgetary flexibility, low debt burden,and exceptional liquidity has led Standard & Poor's Ratings Services to reaffirm the City`s "˜AA-' credit rating.

    "We are very pleased the City's finances have once again been rated positively by Standard & Poors and performance improvements recognized," said Carol Pollard, City Treasurer/CFO & General Manager - Corporate Services & Long Term Care.

    June 17, 2015 - Thunder Bay Rescue is currently battling a significant fire at the former Great West Timber site. Six pumper trucks as well as two aerial ladder trucks are on site battling the blaze.

  • Waterfront Splash Pad Opens on June 22

    June 17, 2015 – The Splash Pad and Water Garden Pavilion at Prince Arthur’s Landing will open for the season on Monday, June 22 at 11 am.

    The state-of-the-art splash pad will be open daily from 11 am to 9 pm throughout the summer.

  • Intersection of Arthur and Edward to Close this Week


    June 17, 2015 - The ongoing reconstruction project on Arthur Street will require the closure of the intersection of Arthur and Edward streets for several hours at a time, from Thursday, June 18 to Saturday, June 20.

    On Thursday, the intersection will close at 9 am for milling, which is the removal of the old top lift of asphalt in preparation for repaving.

    June 16, 2015 - The second annual School Fire Safety Awards were presented to two local schools this week. The awards recognize the school and respective Principal who have shown leadership and commitment to promoting and practicing Fire Safety to a high degree and Fire Code compliance.
