City launches new online campground booking systemReservations for the 2023 camping season at Trowbridge Falls and Chippewa Park campgrounds are now open online, in conjunction with the launch of the City’s new online campsite reservation system.
The new reservation system will improve the customer experience and allow booking 24 hours a day, seven days per week, from anywhere.
Chapples Sliding Hill Being RelocatedBeginning today, the sliding hill beside the outdoor tennis courts at Chapples will close and be relocated in preparation for construction of the new indoor tennis facility.
During the month of January, construction crews will move the soil from the existing hill to a new location south of Chapples Drive and west of the overflow parking lot.
Extra Item of Garbage Allowed After New Year’s Day 2023Due to the increase of waste during the holiday season, the City will allow households a third item of garbage at the curb, without a tag, on the first collection date after New Year’s Day.
Wrapping paper cannot be recycled because of its high ink content and must be thrown away.
Outdoor Supervised Boarded Rinks Now OpenThe City’s supervised boarded outdoor rinks are now open for public skating.
Some of the unsupervised boarded rinks are open as well, while others require further flooding and maintenance prior to officially opening – check local signage.

Christmas Tree Drop-Off Sites Open Boxing Day 2022Each year, the City of Thunder Bay offers a Christmas tree chipping program from Boxing Day to January 12.
Fresh-cut Christmas trees can be dropped off at several locations across the city, where they will be collected, chipped and added to the compost pile at the City's landfill.
