  • July 23 Live on the Waterfront rock night cancelled due to weather

    Due to current rain and thundershowers continuing into the evening, The City of Thunder Bay’s Live on the Waterfront rock night at Marina Park, scheduled July 23 from 6pm – 9pm, is cancelled.

    See you next week on Wednesday, July 30 at the same time and place for Blues Night!

    The Live on the Waterfront series, presented by Ontario Power Generation, runs every Wednesday until August 20, followed by the Live on the Waterfront: Summer Send-Off on August 27 and 28, which will include two spectacular Drone.

  • Rock night hits the stage July 23 at Live on the Waterfront

    The City of Thunder Bay’s Live on the Waterfront performance series, presented by Ontario Power Generation, returns this Wednesday, July 23 from 6 pm – 9 pm with a rock lineup guaranteed to electrify the crowd at Marina Park. 

    This week’s high-energy theme night features a mix of local favourites and visiting talent:

    • 6:00 pm – Ukkon3n: Known for their dynamic stage presence and alt-rock sound, this Thunder Bay trio kicks off the night with driving riffs and powerful vocals that are sure to get the.

  • Marina Overpass to Close as Roundabout Construction Progresses

    As construction on the new roundabout continues, the intersection of Cumberland and Water Streets, including the Marina Overpass will be closed to most vehicle traffic beginning Tuesday, July 22.

    The closure is necessary to accommodate the next phase of work, and it is expected both the intersection and overpass will remain closed until October.

  • City Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Strathcona Golf Course

    The City of Thunder Bay is proud to celebrate a century of golf, community, and local heritage at Strathcona Golf Course, marking its 100th anniversary on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the course’s grounds, located at 500 Hodder Avenue.

    The celebration will take place from 11 am – 12 pm, at the putting green and will feature remarks from local dignitaries, community representatives, and members of the golf community.

  • Sewer and Road Work to Close Burwood Road
    The City of Thunder Bay is advising the public that Stage 2 of the Burwood Road reconstruction will begin Monday, July 14. As part of this work, Burwood Road will be closed at Central Avenue, with local traffic access maintained from Oliver Road only.

  • City recommends 114 Miles St. East for Temporary Shelter Village

    After nearly two years of extensive research, public input, and in-depth review, the City is recommending 114 Miles Street East as the site for the Temporary Shelter Village.

    This decision follows a comprehensive process that began in 2022 when City Council endorsed a human rights-based approach to encampments.

  • Temporary Transit Terminal Location Starting July 14

    Thunder Bay Transit is temporarily moving operations from the Waterfront Transit Terminal to a nearby location on Cumberland Street North starting Monday, July 14, 2025. This change is needed to allow for upgrades to the current terminal.

    Free Landfill Tipping Fee Voucher supports tree clean-up re July 1 storm

    In response to the significant damage caused by the July 1 storm event, the City is offering vouchers for one free tipping fee at the Solid Waste & Recycling Facility (Landfill) available for yard waste only, for affected households.

    “We understand that the clean-up may take several weeks and that it involves a large volume of  trees, limbs and branches,” said Jason Sherband, Manager – Solid Waste & Recycling Services.

    Due to rain in the forecast through the night and into Tuesday morning, the Teddy Bears Picnic presented by Ontario Power Generation, scheduled for tomorrow at Vickers Park, is being relocated indoors to the Fort William Gardens.

    This beloved, family-friendly event is packed with teddy bear magic and perfect for little ones and families of all ages – and everything is still a go!

    Teddy Bears Picnic Returns to Vickers Park July 8

    The City of Thunder Bay invites you to pack up your favourite stuffy and head to Vickers Park for one of the most beloved family events in Thunder Bay! Teddy Bears Picnic, presented by Ontario Power Generation, returns on Tuesday, July 8 from 11am to 3pm, promising a day of whimsy and family fun for teddy bears, children and people of all ages.  

    One of the longest-running family events in Thunder Bay, Teddy Bears Picnic invites families to celebrate the joy of play, creativity, and community.
