Section of Community Hall Road Closed

July 5, 2017 - A section of Community Hall Road will be closed on Thursday, July 6, to through traffic, due to cross-culvert repairs. Community Hall Road will be closed at 729 Community Hall Road and work is expected to be complete by end of day on Friday, July 7.

Award-winning Trio "The Once" to Lead Youth Harmony Workshop

July 5, 2017 - The Once, an award-winning Canadian folk music trio from Newfoundland, will host a "Harmony Through Song" workshop for young people on Wednesday, July 19, from 1 to 3 pm. The workshop is an opportunity for young vocalists to engage with a touring group recognized for their gorgeous three-part harmonies.

Teddy Bears Picnic to feature special guests PJ Masks

June 30, 2017 - It's that time of the year again - calling all Teddy bears and their owners for the annual Teddy Bears Picnic on Tuesday, July 11 at Vickers Park.

Parents, caregivers, children and their teddy bears are invited for an afternoon of free crafts, activities and entertainment featuring meet and greets with PJ Masks.

Strong Budgetary Performance Raises City's Credit Rating

June 29, 2017 - Thunder Bay's strong budgetary performance, effective cost controls, low municipal debt burden, and excellent liquidity balances have led S&P Global Ratings (formerly Standard & Poor's) to raise the City`s credit rating from "˜AA-"˜ to "˜AA'.

"This is great news for residents, and demonstrates that the City of Thunder Bay continues to manage finances in a very responsible manner"Ž with respect for public dollars, by another good financial report card," said Mayor Keith.

#NotInMyTbay - Incident Reporting Launch Today

June 27, 2017 - Have you experienced or witnessed racism in Thunder Bay?

The City of Thunder Bay's Anti-Racism & Respect Advisory Committee's Incident Reporting Working Group, in partnership with Diversity Thunder Bay and Lakehead Social Planning 211, launched a tool today that will allow those who experience or witness racism to report it.

"The Committee is launching this one-year pilot project to give those witnessing or experiencing racism an outlet to report the incident in a way that is appropriate.

Item Limit for Garbage Changing Effective July 1

June 26, 2017 - Effective July 1, the item limit for garbage will be reduced to two items instead of three. An item consists of either one garbage bag or the contents of one can, as long as the items do not exceed the weight limit of 18kg/40lbs.

Age Friendly Thunder Bay Launches GIANTs Project

June 23, 2017 - The Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) has awarded the City of Thunder Bay a grant of $25,000 to empower seniors to share their knowledge, skills and experience with others and enable seniors to age in their homes confidently and comfortably.

The GIANTs (Grand Individuals Aging with Neighbours in Thunder Bay) project, coordinated by Age Friendly Thunder Bay, will focus on addressing social isolation among seniors by encouraging them to talk with other seniors.

Grants Create Opportunity for School Greening & Beautification

June 21, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay's Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee was pleased to present six secondary schools with grants up to a maximum of $1,000 through the 2016 - 2017 Green & Beautiful School Grant Program earlier this year. Today, Wednesday, June 21, the schools presented their greening and beautification projects funded by the grants to the Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee at City Hall.
