Community's Perspectives and Perceptions of Violence Released
November 23, 2017 - Representatives from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, Thunder Bay Drug Strategy and Crime Prevention Thunder Bay released Community Perspectives and Perceptions on Violence, Impacts and Prevention Opportunities at City Hall today.
This collaborative report highlights experiences of violence in Thunder Bay, and informs next steps for prevention initiatives and interventions to prevent or reduce harm from violence in the community.

Cold Water and Ice Warning (1)November 9, 2017 -With the cool winter weather now upon us, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is encouraging parents, guardians and teachers to speak to their children about the dangers of walking on ice-covered bodies of water and the risk of injury or death associated with exposure to freezing cold water.
Ice conditions should be considered dangerous throughout the winter but they are especially dangerous early in the winter season as thick ice has not yet formed.
Second Corrosion Control Plan Public Information SessionNovember 8, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is hosting a second Public Information Session on its Corrosion Control Plan tomorrow, from 6 - 8 pm, at the Oliver Road Recreation Centre.
The City is moving ahead with the next phase of its Corrosion Control Plan to add sodium hydroxide to its water supply to reduce the amount of lead found in tap water.
City Accepted Into Climate and Asset Management NetworkNovember 8, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay has been accepted into the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' (FCM) new Climate and Asset Management Network, which is available through the Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program. It is delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Receives Donation to SAFE Program from Union GasNovember 6, 2017 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue received a $5000 donation of combination smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms today from Union Gas for Thunder Bay Fire Rescue's SAFE program (Smoke/CO Alarms For Everyone). The SAFE program is an assistance-based program geared towards local home owners that require assistance with the acquisition or installation of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
2017 Mayor's Community Safety Awards PresentedNovember 6, 2017 - Two individuals and four community projects were recognized this evening during the Seventh Annual Mayor's Community Safety Awards ceremony for their work to make Thunder Bay a safer community.
"I wish to offer my sincerest congratulations and thanks to each of this year's recipients," said Mayor Keith Hobbs.
