  • North End Park Splash Pad Officially Opens

    July 14, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay's newest splash pad at North End Park officially opened today at a grand opening ceremony. 

    "We are thrilled to be able to open the new Splash Pad in North End Park," said Councillor Andrew Foulds.

    July 14, 2017 -Thunder Bay Fire Rescue has begun its annual Home Fire Safety public education program. 

    Firefighters will be going door to door in residential neighborhoods this summer.

  • Folk Trio The Once to Perform at July 19 Live on the Waterfront

    July 14, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is thrilled to announce that The Once will be featured at Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on July 19. 

    "We are excited to be showcasing a phenomenal folk trio from Newfoundland while also showcasing the fantastic talent we have right here in Thunder Bay," said Ash Young, Cultural Development & Events Supervisor.

  • Road Closures Due to Repairs to Water Distribution System

    July 13, 2017 - The following streets will be temporarily closed due to repairs to the water distribution system:

    • Pacific Avenue, from Spring Street to McIntosh Street, and the Pacific Avenue Bridge accessing the East End
    • McKenzie Street, from Rowand Street to Simpson Street
    • Simpson Street, from Atlantic Avenue to Pacific Avenue 

    The closure will be in effect on Friday, July 14, starting at 12 am midnight until to approximately 8 am, or until work is complete.  

    While the road will be closed to through.

  • Paving to Reduce Balmoral Street to One Lane in Each Direction

    July 10, 2017 - On Tuesday, July 11, a section of Balmoral Street between Alloy Drive and Hewitson Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction, due to mill and re-paving of lanes.

    The mill and re-paving of lanes will improve the driving surface of this section of the road.

  • 2017 Road Work Season Continues

    July 10, 2017 - The road work season in Thunder Bay is well underway. Projects to be undertaken in 2017 include road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sewer and watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work and streetlight renewal.

  • Waste Collection Delays Continue

    July 7, 2017 - Garbage collection delays continue as a result of changes in waste collection operations, including realignment of routes.

    Residents whose garbage was missed are asked to keep their garbage out as collection will continue into the evening of Friday, July 7, as well as on Saturday, July 8.

  • City Mourns with Kentner Family

    July 6, 2017 - Mayor Keith Hobbs has delivered a letter of condolence to the family of Barbara Kentner, who was hit by a trailer hitch thrown from a moving vehicle in January and died this week. He let them know we stand with them as a community and echo their grief.

  • Waste Collection Changes Cause Delays

    July 6, 2017 - Effective July 1, 2017, there were changes to the waste collection operations, including realignment of routes. During the adjustment period, residents can expect delays in their waste collection pick-up.

    July 5, 2017 - The fourth annual Summer Company-Staples Youth Entrepreneurship Day took place this afternoon at Staples Thunder Bay. The tradeshow showcased this year's participants of Summer Company - Ontario's flagship youth entrepreneurship program which is administered through the Thunder Bay & District Entrepreneur Centre every summer.
