    April 21, 2015 - The second installment of the 2015 tax bill is due on Wednesday, May 6. The interim tax billing is based on 50 per cent of your 2014 tax rate and 2014 assessment.

    April 16, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay's Anti-Racism Advisory Committee is hosting a community engagement session on April 21, at the Italian Cultural Centre.

    Residents are encouraged to attend "˜Shifting the Lens: Understanding Racism', a session aimed at helping participants understand issues surrounding racism and develop recommendations to move the community forward.

  • Carbon Monoxide Alarms Now Required

    April 15, 2015 - As of today it is the law to install carbon monoxide alarms in your home if you have a fuel-burning appliance, a fireplace or an attached garage.  The law will be enforced by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue.

  • Spring Curbside Battery Recycling Program Begins Tuesday

    April 10, 2015 - The City's spring curbside battery recycling program returns on April 14, giving residents an opportunity to conveniently and safely recycle spent household batteries.

    "This program has proven to be a very popular and successful one," said Jason Sherband, Coordinator - Solid Waste Diversion & Recycling.

  • Mayor Sets Record Straight on City's Request to Federal Government: City Asking for Leeway in Criteria to Fund Convention Component Only

    April 2, 2015 - In response to Minister Greg Rickford's comments that the City should have known its request for Federal funding would be denied, following is a statement from Mayor Keith Hobbs:

    "First and foremost, we wish to acknowledge that Minister Rickford works extremely hard for Thunder Bay and the entire Region of Northwestern Ontario.

    As well, we understand there are rules for any funding.

    April 1, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay today officially declared April as Dig Safe Month, reminding residents and contractors to call to obtain locates before undertaking any project that requires digging.

    "Enhancing worker safety and protecting underground infrastructure is crucial," said Mayor Keith Hobbs.

  • Surprise Infectious Disease Exercise Shows Paramedics Prepared

    March 31, 2005 - The Superior North Emergency Medical Service (SNEMS), the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC), and the Thunder Bay Central Ambulance Communications Centre (TBCACC) last week completed a "cold" call for a patient suspected of having the Ebola Virus Diseases.

    "The exercise was planned so that no one knew in advance," said Wayne Gates, Deputy Chief - Professional Standards.

  • Federal Government Will Not Fund Event Centre Under One Roof

    March 30, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay today received a registered letter from the Federal Government of Canada indicating that the proposed Thunder Bay Event & Convention Centre is ineligible for Federal Gas Tax funding based on the facility design proposal as submitted and the intent for an AHL team to be the lead tenant. The letter indicated the facility would be eligible if the Convention Centre was built as a separate stand-alone building.

  • City Resident Suffers Serious Burns, Be Oxygen Aware

    March 26, 2015 - On March 17, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a Leslie Avenue home for a possible structural fire. Responding units found an extinguished fire inside a bedroom of the home and a female occupant suffering from serious burns.
