The Central Avenue Water Fill Station, west of Amber Drive, for commercial customers, will be closing temporarily starting on Thursday, May 9, due to construction.

A temporary station will be located on Innovation Drive, between Central Avenue and Capital Way.

Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue (TBFR) responded to a report of a “loader on fire” on Hazelwood Dr.    

A large plume of smoke could be seen by responding crews from several miles away.

Thunder Bay residents will take to the streets this weekend to participate in Thunder Bay’s 9th Annual Jane’s Walk Festival. Local volunteers will be leading eight free neighbourhood walks that will inspire citizens to get to better know our city and each other.

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to host a Youth Arts Showcase, presented by Ontario Power Generation, in celebration of National Youth Arts Week, which occurs together with National Youth Week May 1 - 7 every year. Along with Youth Week Activities at the Kinsmen Youth Centre, the City will present a Youth Art Show and Youth Music Showcase featuring some of Thunder Bay’s most talented youth.

The City of Thunder Bay kicks off National Youth Week with an official proclamation at Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School today. Youth Week takes place annually from May 1 -7 and celebrates the positive contributions that youth make to their communities, their achievements, and their volunteerism.

The City’s Engineering Division concluded its traffic study in the area of the proposed roundabout at Victoria Avenue and Ford Street. Based on the results of the study, a roundabout is not recommended.

The Designated Truck Route By-law scheduled to go before City Council on Monday, April 29, has been withdrawn, to be rescheduled to a later date. Any deputations relating to this by-law will be rescheduled with the by-law.

Broadway Avenue, west of Highway 61, Lynda Avenue and Kerega Avenue are closed due to a water main break.

Residents are asked to use Rosslyn Road as there is no access to Broadway Avenue from Highway 61.

For those residents who were not contacted by telephone for the 2019 Citizen Satisfaction Survey, they now have an opportunity to share their views online until April 30.

The City of Thunder Bay commissioned Ipsos, a professional public opinion research company, to conduct the 2019 survey by telephone to a random selection of 500 residents for a two week period, April 2 - 16.

The City’s landfill is experiencing larger visitor volumes than normal and is asking residents to be patient during this time. Traffic increases significantly in the spring, and the early arrival of warm weather has many residents cleaning up ahead of schedule.
