    Section of Montreal Street to Close for Rail Crossing Rehabilitation

    Montreal Street, from Mountdale Avenue to Neebing Avenue, will be closed to all through traffic on Thursday, May 14, from 8 am – 4 pm to allow for rehabilitation work on the CP rail crossing. Local traffic will be permitted to allow for access to businesses.

  • Reduced Load Restrictions Will Be Lifted Wednesday

    The Reduced Load Restrictions that were implemented on March 16 within the city will be lifted on Wednesday, May 13 at 8 am.  
     
    Restrictions are put in place annually to protect City roads from damage during the spring thaw.

  • City Archives Welcomes Nominations for Women’s History Month

    Mother’s Day marks the opening of nominations of notable women from our city’s past to be featured on the City of Thunder Bay Archives online web exhibit for Women’s History Month in October.

    The City of Thunder Bay Archives launched the Women in History online exhibit in 2013 as a means to recognize women who have contributed to the history and community of Thunder Bay.

  • Mayor to Host Virtual Town Hall on Economic Recovery

    Mayor Bill Mauro will host a one-hour, virtual town hall meeting along with Eric Zakrewski, CEO of the Community Economic Development Commission, on Tuesday, May 12 starting at 7 pm.

    Thunder Bay residents will have a chance to get answers about economic recovery in Thunder Bay, and how the city can help businesses in these unprecedented times.

  • COVID-19: Canada Day, Live on the Waterfront to be Virtual

    In response to Provincial orders and physical distancing mandates, the City’s Canada Day celebrations and Live on the Waterfront programming will be delivered virtually this summer.

    With the public’s safety being top priority, event staff are planning innovative ways of delivering events without encouraging the large gatherings that typically occur with events of this scale.

    COVID-19: Officials Remind Residents to Physical Distance

    The Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) met today with various community partners as part of its ongoing management of the COVID-19 situation and discussed the importance of continued physical distancing as the Province takes initial steps to lift restrictions.

  • COVID-19: Province to Allow Golf Courses and Marinas to Prepare

    The Ontario government announced Friday that golf courses and marinas may prepare for the upcoming season under strict safety guidelines, but not open to the public until the Province lifts restrictions on public access.

    The City will consider its operational procedures, continue ongoing maintenance, and await further notice from the Province, following which a determination would be made regarding openings.

    Boulevard Lake Dam Rehabilitation to Begin May 4

    The Boulevard Lake Dam rehabilitation is set to begin on Monday, May 4, with the project expected to be completed by the end of 2021. The Boulevard Lake Dam Walkway will be closed for the duration of the project.
