    April 3, 2017 - Kimberly Baskin has been awarded the 2017 Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO) Award of Excellence in the Emerging Leader category. She was presented the award at a ceremony in Huntsville on Thursday, March 30.

  • Hockey Players and Fire Rescue Talk Fire Safety with Students

    March 31, 2017 -Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, Tbaytel and the Lakehead University Thunderwolves Hockey Team have again joined forces to promote fire safety with the creation of fire safety hockey cards featuring this year's Thunderwolves team. Today at McKellar Park School members of the Thunderwolves Hockey Team joined Thunder Bay Fire Rescue in educating students on home fire safety.

  • Fire Rescue Issues Tickets to Hotel for Wedging Doors Open

    March 29, 2017 - A Memorial Avenue hotel was issued two tickets from Thunder Bay Fire Rescue last week for having a closure in a fire separation wedged open. Each ticket carries a fine of $360.

  • Emerald Ash Borer Is Here! Now What?

    March 28, 2017 - Since the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) was detected in Thunder Bay in 2016, the Northwestern Ontario EAB Task Force has taken additional steps to increase awareness of the invasive insect's arrival. The "˜Emerald Ash Borer is Here! Now What?' regional workshop and public information session in Thunder Bay are the culmination of this multi-stakeholder group's communication efforts.

  • Repairs to Restrict Traffic on Section of Memorial Avenue

    March 28, 2017 - Traffic access to a section of Memorial Avenue will be affected starting on Wednesday, March 29, while repairs are made to the sanitary collection system.

    The work area stretches along Memorial Avenue between the Harbour Expressway and Tenth Avenue.

  • Beneficial Insects Released at Centennial Botanical Conservatory

    March 17, 2017 - Periodically, staff of the City of Thunder Bay's Forestry and Horticulture Section release beneficial insects at the Centennial Botanical Conservatory. Once released, these hunter insects travel through the Conservatory and greenhouses, consuming "victim" insect pests in egg, larval and adult form.

  • Thunder Bay to Host 360° Cinematic Dome to Celebrate Ontario150

    March 16, 2017 - Thunder Bay has been announced as a selected city to host the unique cinematic dome screening of the 360° film "Horizon". In partnership with the province, through Ontario150, SESQUI has announced its revolutionary immersive cinematic dome tour will be visiting six communities across Ontario.

  • Youth Share Photo Voice to "Push for Change"

    March 15, 2017 - The Thunder Bay Drug Strategy and Crime Prevention Council have united with community partners to provide a platform for youth impacted by homelessness to have a voice to share their experiences, their hopes for the future and to raise awareness about youth homelessness in Canada and Thunder Bay. 

    Through a Community Action Project driven by Leadership Thunder Bay, the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy and Crime Prevention Council collaborated with several community partners to welcome.

  • Insect Release at Conservatory Rescheduled to March 17

    March 15, 2017 - The releasing of beneficial insects at the Centennial Botanical Conservatory has been rescheduled due to a shipping delay, to Friday, March 17 at 5 pm.
