  • Victoriaville Redevelopment: Archibald & Victoria Intersection Closure Starts June 16
    As part of the ongoing Reimagine Victoriaville redevelopment, the intersection of Archibald Street and Victoria Avenue will be fully closed to vehicular traffic starting Monday, June 16, 2025, and will remain closed until October 31, 2026.
    The west sidewalk will remain open for pedestrian access, while the east sidewalk will be closed throughout the duration of construction.

  • Road Work Ahead: City shares details of June construction
     The City of Thunder Bay is sharing details of construction projects expected to impact vehicular, cycling, and pedestrian travel in the month of June.
    The City is investing $55 million in 2025 to fund crucial infrastructure work including road rehabilitation, sidewalk replacement, sewer and watermain repairs and replacements, and bridge and culvert renewal.

  • City Responds to Paramedic Strike Mandate Vote

    The City of Thunder Bay is aware that Unifor Local 229 paramedics serving the Superior North EMS District have voted in favour of a strike mandate.

    A strike mandate is a routine part of the bargaining process and does not place the union in a legal strike position.

    The City of Thunder Bay is supporting an emergency evacuation of Sandy Lake First Nation due to an active forest fire in the region. The Red Lake 12 fire is now within 6 km of the community and is producing heavy smoke and reducing visibility.

    The City of Thunder Bay released a Call to Artists for a new award design for the 2025 Arts & Heritage Awards.

    Local artists and artist teams are invited to submit proposals for a new award that will be presented to 2025 City of Thunder Bay Arts & Heritage Award recipients this fall.

  • Section of Alloy Drive Closed for Emergency Infrastructure Repairs
    The City of Thunder Bay is informing the public that Alloy Drive will be closed between Balmoral Street and Cobalt Crescent today, Wednesday, June 4, to accommodate emergency infrastructure repairs.
    Work began at 8 am, and is expected to continue into the evening.

    Council approves changes to parking at meters, waterfront

    Thunder Bay City Council approved changes to the Parking Authority Financial Plan this week, allowing for complimentary parking at a variety of locations throughout the city.

    Effective June 3, on-street parking throughout Thunder Bay will be complimentary for two-hours, with drivers able to purchase an additional two hours at the same space.
