  • 2017 Canada Day Festivities at the Waterfront

    June 20, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is delighted to announce the upcoming Canada Day on the Waterfront presented by Ontario Power Generation.  The festivities are scheduled for Saturday, July 1, at Marina Park from 5 - 11 pm.

  • Community Invited to Show Support for Games Bid

    June 20, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay submitted a bid proposal on June 16 to host the 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games.

    The bid theme is "Hearts of Gold" to highlight Thunder Bay's community spirit and the the City's 50th Golden Anniversary year in 2020.

    June 19, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce that The White Buffalo will be featured at Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on July 12.

  • Waterfront Splash Pad and Amenities Open for Season

    June 15, 2017 - The Splash Pad and Water Garden Pavilion at Prince Arthur's Landing are now open for the season. Weather permitting the facilities will remain open until mid-September.

  • City's CN Application Dismissed by Court

    June 14, 2017 - The Superior Court of Ontario has dismissed the City of Thunder Bay's application for an order requiring CN to maintain the James Street Bridge. 

    "We are disappointed with the decision, and are considering our options going forward," said Norm Gale, City Manager.

  • Live on the Waterfront Selected for ONtour Concert

    June 12, 2017 - Thunder Bay's Live on the Waterfront has been selected as a stop in the free ONtour concert series, part of a year-long line-up of events marking Ontario's 150th anniversary and celebrating the province. 

    The ONtour concert will be presented in Thunder Bay at Live on the Waterfront on August 9.

  • Check Smoke/CO Alarms and Practice Home Fire Escape Plans

    June 8, 2017 - After nine fire related fatalities in Southwestern Ontario in recent months, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue wants to remind the public to make sure they have working smoke alarms on every level of their home and outside all sleeping areas. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue also reminds residents to develop and practice a home fire escape plan with everyone in their home.

  • Section of James Street to Close Due to Storm Sewer Work

    June 7, 2017 - Storm sewer reconstruction on James Street between Victoria Avenue and Churchill Drive in the vicinity of the Neebing River will begin on Monday, June 12, and is expected to take approximately 16 weeks to complete.

    As construction proceeds, the road will be closed to through traffic, local traffic will be permitted.
