    The Annual ATU Local 966 and City of Thunder Bay Santa Bus food drive has been cancelled this year due to COVID restrictions.

    “We would like to thank the community for their support over the last 25 years, and we hope to return with this annual event in 2021,” said Ken Koza, Amalgamated Transit Union 966 President.

  • Protect Your Collector – Do Not Place Loose PPE Items in Garbage Cans

    As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Thunder Bay residents are reminded to “Protect Your Collector” and not place loose items – especially used personal protective equipment (PPE) such as disposable masks and gloves –in trash cans.

    “Our waste collection crews have encountered loose PPE items in garbage cans,” said Jason Sherband, the City’s Manager of Solid Waste and Recycling Services.

  • Increasingly Toxic Drug Supply Leading to More Overdoses

    There continues to be increased calls to Thunder Bay Police and Superior North EMS for opioid poisonings (fatal and non-fatal) as a result of a toxic drug supply in Thunder Bay.In the first 15 weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario, 695 people died of a confirmed or suspected opioid-related death, representing a 38% increase compared to the 15 weeks immediately preceding the pandemic.

  • Visitors to City Facilities to Screen for Travel as of Monday

    As of Monday, Nov. 30 at 12:01 am, the City’s active screening tool will not permit members of the public to enter any city facility if they have travelled outside of Northwestern Ontario in the previous 14 days.

  • Thunder Bay’s 2020 Road Work Season Wraps Up

    In 2020, the City of Thunder Bay invested $18 million on road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sanitary and storm sewers, watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work, and streetlight renewal.
