Neighbour Day Returns with Tbaytel as Presenting Sponsor
The City of Thunder Bay’s second annual Neighbour Day will be taking place Saturday, June 19, presented by Tbaytel. Neighbour Day is a celebration of neighbourhoods and community, providing residents an opportunity to reach out to their neighbours, create new traditions, and build positive and supportive relationships.
Proposed Expansion for Eye on the Street ProgramA report from the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) and City Administration will be presented to City Council on June 7 that will recommend expanding the Eye on the Street program, including installing new cameras in strategic locations, upgrading the hardware and network, and increasing the number and locations of cameras.
In operation since 2005, the Eye on the Street program is a community public safety initiative that provides closed-circuit video monitoring for safety and security purposes.
City Invites Input into Development of New Digital StrategyThe City of Thunder Bay is developing a Digital Strategy to transform service delivery and City processes in the face of an ever-evolving digital environment. While extensive internal consultation is taking place, the public is invited to get involved in the Strategies’ development and share their views on what they would like to see for the future.
2021 Road Work Season has begunThe City of Thunder Bay is investing $32 million in 2021 on road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sanitary and storm sewers, watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work, and streetlight renewal.
This month marks the start of a busy road work season that can result in road closures, detours and delays for drivers.
Some Outdoor Recreational Amenities to Re-OpenEffective May 22 at 12:01 am, the Ontario government has given provincial orders to permit the reopening of some outdoor recreational amenities, with restrictions in place. This comes in response to recent improvements to province-wide vaccination rates and improvements in key public health and health care indicators.
One Extra Item of Garbage Allowed Next Week (2)The City will allow residents to put out a third item of garbage with no tag on the first collection date after the Victoria Day holiday.
Residents are reminded to make efforts to reduce waste as it saves energy, time, money and valuable natural resources.
Accessibility Advisory Committee Invites Input into Virtual Open HouseThe City of Thunder Bay’s Accessibility Advisory Committee is pleased to announce they will be hosting a virtual open house in the fall of 2021. The virtual open house will consist of five to six videos that will be available on the City website and City YouTube channel.
Free Compost Now Available to Residents (1)Weather permitting, compost is now available to all residents at no charge at the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility while quantities last.
Access to the compost pick-up area is on John Street Rd, between Mapleward Rd and Gratton Rd.
