Work at Pumping Station May Cause Discoloured Water
May 24, 2016 - On Wednesday, May 25 a controlled shutdown of the Chamberlain Pumping Station will be carried out to facilitate the ongoing capital upgrade, which involves replacing aging infrastructure at the Station.
Beginning at 7 pm on May 25, several distribution valves will be closed, temporarily isolating the Chamberlain Pumping Station from the water distribution system.
Section of Pacific Avenue to Close TuesdayMay 20, 2016 - A section of Pacific Avenue between May Street and Simpson Street will be closed on Tuesday, May 24 as part of the ongoing road reconstruction on Robertson Street, which will see new sewers and watermains installed as well as sections of sidewalks replaced.
The closure is expected to last until Friday, May 27.Fire Ban Reinstated for the City of Thunder BayMay 20, 2016 - Please be advised that effective immediately, all fire permits have been suspended until further notice and no open burning will be allowed in the City. As a result of the potential for extreme fire behavior through the long weekend, the Ministry of Natural Resources has requested that Thunder Bay Fire Rescue suspend all burning permits and re-instate the burning ban.
City Launches Reminder Service for Water Meter ReadingsMay 18, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay has launched a new service that reminds residents it is time to submit their water meter reading through email, text, or telephone. The Recollect Water Meter Reading Reminder Service is easy to use, and the reminders are provided at no additional cost to residents.
Sewer and Water Work to Close Section of Fort William RoadMay 18, 2016 - A section of Fort William Road between Isabel Street and the Harbour Expressway will be closed on Thursday, May 19 to allow for new sewer and water installations.
The closure is expected to last from 8 pm on Thursday until approximately noon on Friday, May 20, or until the work is complete.
Response to Chamberlain Street Pumping StationThursday, May 12
- 3 am - A failure occurred at the Chamberlain Street Pumping Station. The certified water operator at the Bare Point Water Treatment Plant immediately responded to an alarm at the Station and dispatched additional staff to determine the cause and restore service.
New Centennial Park Off-Leash Dog Area Officially OpensMay 17, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay celebrated the grand opening of the Centennial Park Off-Leash Dog Area today.
Representatives of the City and many canine companions were in attendance to enjoy the new trail and the festivities, which involved celebratory remarks and an official ribbon cutting.
Precautionary Boil Water Advisory LiftedMay 15, 2016 - The precautionary boil water advisory for customers in pressure Zone 2N has been lifted. City representatives will hand deliver rescind notices to affected customers beginning Monday, May 16, and will continue through the week during regular business hours.
Fire Ban Lifted for the City of Thunder BayMay 16, 2016 - Please be advised that effective at 5 pm, today all fire permits have been reinstated in the City of Thunder Bay.
