Invitation to Smart Cities Drop-In Open Houses
April 13, 2018 - The City of Thunder Bay, in partnership with Fort William First Nation and other partners including Thunder Bay Police, TBayTel and Thunder Bay Hydro, is submitting an application to the Smart Cities Challenge to be shortlisted for a $10 million prize.
The Challenge encourages communities of all sizes, including municipalities, regional governments and Indigenous communities (First Nations, Métis and Inuit), to adopt a smart cities approach to improve the lives of their residents.
Citizens Invited to Sign Humboldt Broncos Books of CondolencesApril 11, 2018 - The City of Thunder Bay invites citizens to sign Books of Condolences to allow them to pay their respects to the families of the victims and to the people of Humboldt, Saskatchewan deeply affected by the recent Humboldt Broncos Junior Hockey Team bus tragedy.

Project SoundCheckTM was founded in Ottawa in 2015 after research showed that 25% of sexual assaults in Ottawa occurred at mass gatherings like festivals and concerts.

Ski-Cross To Build Capacity at Local Ski HillsMarch 28, 2018 - The sport of ski-cross could be introduced to Thunder Bay as early as next year with the potential for tracks to be built on the slopes of both Mount Baldy and Loch Lomond, the community's two ski hills.
The alpine ski discipline, introduced at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, is an action-packed and adrenaline-fueled sport that features four to six racers going head to head, at the same time, with the aim of finishing first.

The City Releases a Statement Regarding the James Street BridgeMarch 27, 2018 - The City of Thunder Bay commends Fort William First Nation's efforts in conferring with Canadian National Railway Company, and examining ways in which the James Street Bridge could be repaired and reopened to vehicular traffic once again.
In recent days, FWFN advised the City that it gave CN Railway a concept for repairs to the bridge, which is currently under review by CN Railway engineers.
