Community Clean-Up Trailer launchedThe City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Services and Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee are pleased to announce the launch of the Community Clean-Up Trailer. Today City staff and members of the Committee, along with staff of Lakehead Region Conservation Authority, Thunder Bay Art Gallery and Generator Strategy Advertising used the Trailer to rid an area along the Neebing Floodway of litter.
Road Work Ahead: July 2024The City of Thunder Bay is sharing details of construction projects expected to impact drivers, cyclists and pedestrians in the month of July.
The City is investing $42 million in 2024 to fund crucial infrastructure work including road rehabilitation, sidewalk replacement, sewer and watermain repairs and replacements, and bridge and culvert renewal.
Drilling work begins in north coreOver the coming days, residents may notice noise caused by drilling work associated with the renewal of Thunder Bay’s north core.
To minimize disruption to the public and area businesses, the work will take place during working hours Monday to Friday over the next one to two weeks.
Join us for a Beary Good Time at the Teddy Bears Picnic July 9The City of Thunder Bay invites everyone to Vickers Park on Tuesday, July 9 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm for a day spent enjoying entertainment, delicious food and fun activities with friends, family, and your favourite stuffed animal at the annual Teddy Bears Picnic! This event is presented by Ontario Power Generation.
The Teddy Bears Picnic, a tradition in our community since the early 1980s, is fun for the young and young at heart! Watch the exciting stage show, check out the enchanted story time.
Churchill Pool parking lot temporarily closedThe parking lot at Churchill Pool will be temporarily closed starting on Tuesday, July 2 to accommodate sidewalk repairs.
The parking lot is expected to reopen by Saturday, July 6.
North Core reconstruction moving to next phaseWork to renew Thunder Bay’s North Core is proceeding to its next phase, with the closure of Red River Road extending to Court Street starting on Tuesday, July 2.
During this phase of construction, Red River Road will be closed to vehicular traffic between Court Street and Cumberland Street.
Parking drop-in session slated for downtown residentsMunicipal Parking Services wants to hear from people who live in the downtown cores, and their experiences with parking.
Changes to parking rates and hours of enforcement started June 1, and Municipal Parking Services wants to learn about any impacts this has had on people who live in the downtown Fort William area, Waterfront District, or Bay and Algoma areas.
City launches online appointment booking for building & planningThe City of Thunder Bay is continuing to expand its digital building and planning services, making it easier for local homeowners and contractors to start construction projects and build homes.
The City launched an online appointment booking tool that allows users to set up appointments with Development Services staff with a few clicks.
