City Extends Pop-Up Patio Pilot until 2020The City of Thunder Bay will be extending the Pop-Up Patio Pilot until 2020 to allow temporary, seasonal patios and seating areas to be built in front of businesses.
The pilot was originally launched in May 2018.
New Members Join the Anti-Racism and Inclusion CoalitionMarch 1, 2019 – Representatives from five new organizations signed on to become members of the Thunder Bay Anti-Racism & Inclusion Coalition today at City Hall.

Coalition to End Human Trafficking Hosts Awareness EventThe Thunder Bay Coalition to End Human Trafficking hosted an awareness event at Intercity Shopping Centre today to provide the public with information about human trafficking and affiliated community resources. The goal was to engage the public about human trafficking and the importance of specific and specialized services.
City Events Call for Vendors, Artists, Community Groups and TalentThe City of Thunder Bay is inviting food vendors, product and service vendors, artists, artisans, and community groups to apply to participate at the City’s annual events series. An Open Call for Talent is also available for the upcoming season.
Traffic Study Taking Place at Proposed Roundabout LocationThe City’s Engineering Division will be undertaking a traffic study in the area of the proposed roundabout on Victoria Avenue. The intent of the study is to determine the requirements for traffic control at the Victoria Avenue and Lillie Street intersection, and/or the Victoria Avenue and Ford Street intersection.
Phase Two of Main Street Bridge Construction to Begin in MarchPhase two of the Main Street Bridge rehabilitation will commence on Monday, March 4.
The Main Street Bridge, located between Isabel Street and Hammond Avenue, is undergoing rehabilitation to improve and repair key elements of the structure in order to increase its lifespan and provide a reliable and safe means of transportation for years to come.

Memorial Walk held for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and GirlsThe 11th Annual Valentine’s Day Memorial Walk brought together families of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls to acknowledge the families’ loss and support them in their grief, while also educating the public about this issue.
“Come walk with us today in memory of missing and murdered women and girls,” said Valentine’s Day Memorial Walk organizer and family member, Sharon Johnson.
