City Launches Engaging New Municipal Website
The City of Thunder Bay launched a new website today at City Hall aimed at enhancing access to City information and services and strengthening engagement with citizens.
Using a responsive design, the site is mobile friendly and built for accessibility, meeting AA accessible standards.
City’s AA Credit Rating ReaffirmedThunder Bay's strong budgetary performance, prudent financial management practices, low municipal debt burden, and excellent liquidity balances have led S&P Global Ratings to reaffirm the City`s credit rating of ‘AA’.
"The positive outlook assigned by S&P is a clear indication we are heading in the right direction and managing our finances well,” said Mayor Keith Hobbs.
Family Fun at Thunder Bay’s Annual Teddy Bears PicnicIt’s that time of year again! Calling all teddy bears and their owners for the annual Teddy Bears Picnic, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on Tuesday, July 10 at Vickers Park. Parents, caretakers, children and their teddy bears are invited for an afternoon of free crafts, activities and entertainment.
New Vehicle for Hire By-law Replaces Taxi By-lawThe City of Thunder Bay has introduced a new by-law regulating vehicles for hire and designated driver services to improve public health and safety, and to provide consumer protection.
“The new by-law introduces a new type of licence – a designated driver business licence,” said James Coady, Manager – Licensing and Enforcement Division.
Live on the Waterfront Launches New Stage with ClassifiedThe City of Thunder Bay is pleased to host its headliner – multiple award-winning artist Classified – at the season’s first Live on the Waterfront on Friday, June 29, presented by Ontario Power Generation.

Students Present Projects to Clean, Green & Beautiful CommitteeStudents and teachers from six Thunder Bay secondary schools presented their greening and beautification projects today to the City of Thunder Bay’s Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery. Each high school received $1,000 through the 2017 – 2018 Green & Beautiful School Grant Program to take part in a “Green and Beautiful” project.
Unified Approach to New Anti-Racism and Inclusion CoalitionRepresentatives from 11 major organizations signed a Thunder Bay Anti-Racism & Inclusion Accord today at City Hall, and announced a Coalition that will commit to establish goals and report on successes by working together to address racism and discrimination in the community.
"Each and every lead at the organizations agreed that a unified approach and public statement declaring the existence of systemic racism within Thunder Bay needs to happen," said Ken Ogima, Chief Executive Officer at Fort.
City Announces 2018 Canada Day FestivitiesThe City of Thunder Bay is delighted to announce its upcoming Canada Day festivities, scheduled for Sunday, July 1 at Marina Park.
With past attendance estimated at over 20,000, Canada Day remains Thunder Bay’s largest annual single-day event.
