Residents are invited to celebrate National Public Works Week virtually this week to learn about how public works services and activities support the community every day. The event runs online via the May 17, 2021

The City of Thunder Bay Archives is calling for nominations from the community of notable women from our city’s past to be featured on the web exhibit for Women’s History Month in October.

The Women in History online exhibit was launched in 2013 as a means to recognize women who have contributed to the history and community of Thunder Bay.

The City of Thunder Bay’s spring curbside collection of organic leaf and yard waste will take place from May 18 – 28, on residents’ regular recycling days. 

Homeowners must use Kraft (paper bags) for leaf and yard waste.

The City of Thunder Bay will be removing seasonal load restrictions on Monday, May 10 at 8:00 am. The roadway weight restrictions are instituted each spring in conjunction with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Provincial Reduced Load Regulations, to protect the roads from damage until the frost is out of the ground.

The City of Thunder Bay’s bike lanes are scheduled to begin reopening on May 1, as each zone’s street sweeping concludes. Bike lanes will remain open until Nov.

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to host virtual programming once again this year in celebration of National Youth Week from May 1 to May 7. The Recreation and Culture Division, along with other community partners, has arranged different virtual events for youth ages 12–24 to participate in throughout the week with a focus on well-being.

The City of Thunder Bay is in the process of investigating a security staff interaction with patrons at the City Hall transit terminal and the conduct of everyone involved.

Additional security was recently added by Thunder Bay Transit for the City Hall terminal after increased incidents of aggressive behaviour was being reported by transit drivers.
