City of the Poppy: Commemorative Initiative Acknowledges Important Role of City in History
December 16, 2015 - Thousands of men and women from Port Arthur, Fort William, and the region served in the armed forces during the First World War. The Poppy was adopted as a national symbol of remembrance in Port Arthur at the Prince Arthur Hotel on July 6, 1921.
Cold Water and Ice Warning (2)December 16, 2015 - With cold weather now upon us, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is encouraging parents and guardians to speak with their children about the dangers of walking on ice and exposure to ice cold water.
Ice conditions should be considered dangerous at all times, but they are especially dangerous early in the winter season as thick ice has not yet formed.
