  • Section of Arthur Street to Close for Rail Crossing Rehabilitation

    July 24, 2015 - Arthur Street from Waterloo Street to Kingsway will close to all through traffic on Monday, July 27 to allow for rehabilitation of the rail crossing and approaches. 

    The closure is expected to last one week.

    July 21, 2015 – City Council agreed on Monday to implement, without further appeal, a decision of the Assessment Review Board (ARB) regarding a 54% reduction in the valuation of the Resolute mill from $72.2 million to $32.

  • 2015 Road Work Season Continues (1)

    July 16, 2015 - A busy road work season is taking place in Thunder Bay. Projects to be undertaken in 2015 include road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sewer and watermain repair/replacement, bridge work and streetlight renewal.

  • Intersection of Walsh and James Streets Closing for Resurfacing

    July 16, 2015 - The intersection of Walsh and James Streets will close to all traffic at 9 am on Friday, July 17, for resurfacing.

    The closure is expected to last until the afternoon of Saturday, July 18.

  • River Street to Close to Facilitate Water Main Construction

    July 14, 2015 - The eastbound lane of River Street between Rockwood Avenue to Pine Street will be closed for part of the day on Wednesday, July 15 to facilitate water main construction.

    The closure is expected to last about six hours, beginning in the morning.

  • Boulevard Lake Dam Rehabilitation Important Ongoing Project

    July 10, 2015 - The City was made aware through media that a letter from the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC), dated July 2, 2015, was sent by mail to the City requesting additional information on the planning for the Boulevard Lake Dam Rehabilitation Project. Only today was the City able to obtain a copy this letter, upon request to the Ministry.

  • Pacific Avenue Bridge to Close for Resurfacing

    July 10, 2015 - The Pacific Avenue Bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic and pedestrians on Tuesday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 15, due to resurfacing.

    There will be no access to the East End neighbourhood via Pacific Avenue during the work period.

  • Section of Golf Links Road to Close on July 14

    July 10, 2015 - Golf Links Road from Crystal Street/Cascade Crescent South to Fairbank Crescent will close to vehicular through traffic on Tuesday, July 14, as part of the ongoing Golf Links Road expansion project.

    The closure will allow the McIntyre River bridge to be reconfigured to accommodate four lanes of traffic.

  • City Marks 2015 Peace Bell Ceremony

    July 9, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay once again joined with Sister City Gifu City, Japan, to call for world peace at the 2015 Peace Bell Ceremony.

    "This ceremony is important to the Sister City relationship we enjoy with Gifu City, Japan," Mayor Keith Hobbs said.

  • Proposed Transit Service Improvements

    July 7, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay is proposing changes to certain transit routes on the south side of the city to improve service, and is looking for the public's feedback.

    There will be two public feedback opportunities at the following locations:

    "¢ Intercity Shopping Centre food court - July 8, 4-7 pm

    "¢ City Hall Lobby, 500 Donald St.
