City seeks feedback on home energy loan program
The City of Thunder Bay invites homeowners to provide feedback on a proposed home energy improvement loan program that will guide how the City can support energy efficiency improvements and lower barriers in conducting home retrofits.
The Home Energy Improvement Loan Design Study involves an online survey, three in-person public engagement opportunities, and consultation with local financial institutions, utility providers, program administrators, and City staff.
Anti-Racism Community Discussion promotes inclusivityThe City of Thunder Bay’s Anti-Racism and Equity Advisory Committee hosted an Anti-Racism Community Discussion event at the Italian Cultural Centre today, bringing together community members and a diverse line-up of speakers to foster thoughtful conversations focused on addressing racism and promoting inclusivity.
“Creating equitable, inclusive spaces is essential for community safety and well-being,” said Louisa Costanzo, Manager, Community Safety & Wellbeing.
City urges motorists to drive with extra cautionThe City of Thunder Bay is reminding drivers to stay cautious as road crews continue to clean up after the first snowfall of the season.
To stay safe on the roads, here are some helpful driving tips:
- Slow down and drive carefully
- Keep plenty of space between your vehicle and others
- Be patient with other drivers
- Watch out for pedestrians and cyclists
Residents are also reminded to give snowplows and salt trucks plenty of space to operate safely and effectively when you see them on the road.
Payment and invoice processing updates during Canada Post StrikeAs Canada Post remains on strike, the City’s ability to process mail and payments in a timely manner is being impacted. Suppliers and vendors can continue to submit their invoices and receive payments without unnecessary delays.

Municipal Enforcement Services clarifies role with animal servicesMunicipal Enforcement Services (MES), the department in charge of enforcing by-laws in Thunder Bay, is clarifying its role in handling domestic animals in the city.
In 2022, MES made changes to improve services related to domestic animals, such as managing dangerous dogs, picking up stray dogs, investigating dog bites, and handling injured or deceased animals on city property.
Site recommendation proposed for Temporary Shelter VillageThe City of Thunder Bay is taking decisive action to address the growing challenges of unsheltered homelessness and encampments with the launch of its Human Rights-Based Community Action Plan.
As part of this comprehensive, ten-part strategy, administration is recommending a site for the Temporary Shelter Village Initiative.
