  • City Welcomes New Indigenous Health Care Initiative

    July 25, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay welcomes the commitment from the Federal Minister of Health Jane Philpott, Ontario Minster of Health and Long-Term Care Eric Hoskins and Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler of Nishnawbe Aski Nation on an agreement to address urgent health needs in First Nations communities.

    The Charter of Relationship Principles Governing Health System Transformation in NAN Territory was announced Monday afternoon in Ottawa.

  • Hep Net raises awareness about Hepatitis for World Hepatitis Day

    July 24, 2017 - It's estimated approximately one in every 50 people are living with hepatitis C in Thunder Bay, but many do not know it. Today, a coalition of local agencies called Hep Net held a health fair at Victoriaville Mall to provide the public with information on hepatitis C prevention, testing and treatment.

  • Community Spirit on Display for Special Olympics Games Bid

     

    July 21, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay has taken the final step in the bid process to secure the 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games. Special Olympics Canada officials arrived in Thunder Bay on July 20 for a two-day site visit which included a tour of the proposed venues and a presentation by the local Bid Committee.

  • Statement on Charges and Update on Council

    July 21, 2017 - In the matter of Criminal Code charges laid against Mayor Keith Hobbs, the City of Thunder Bay will not be making a public comment as the matter is before the courts, other than to assure the public the charges are unrelated to municipal business or issues.
    The Mayor has advised he will be absent from his public duties, in accordance with City policy, as he deals with this personal matter.

  • Nadjiwan To Release Album at Live on the Waterfront on July 26

    July 21, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to announce that Nadjiwan will be featured at Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on July 26.  

    The man behind the music of Nadjiwan, Marc Merilainen, was born in northern Manitoba and raised in the untamed beauty of Northwestern Ontario.

  • Free Screenings of HORIZON in Thunder Bay

    July 21, 2017 - Thunder Bay will be one of seven cities hosting the unique cinematic dome screening of the 360° film HORIZON, produced by SESQUI, as part of the Canada 150 celebrations. 

    The free screenings will take place from July 24 - July 28, in the Intercity Shopping Centre parking lot.

    July 20, 2017 - To ensure its safe operation, the Muskeg Express Train Ride at Centennial Park is not in service yet for the season.

    Administration is having the ride assessed to identify any upgrades or measures required to ensure it is safe to operate.

  • James and Churchill Intersection to Close for Sewer Construction

    July 20, 2017 - The intersection at James Street and Churchill Drive will be closed to all traffic starting on Monday, July 24, for storm sewer construction and watermain replacement.

    The work is expected to take up to two weeks to complete.
