City Honours Local Arts & Heritage Talent
April 1, 2016 - The achievements and contributions of local artists, cultural professionals, organizations and businesses were celebrated at the City of Thunder Bay's annual Arts & Heritage Awards, presented by the Walleye, on Thursday evening at the Finnish Labour Temple.
This year's nominees represent a wide spectrum of Thunder Bay's cultural sector from individual artists, theater, film, music and historians to cultural business, educators, and supporters.
Share Your Views on City's Roads Maintenance StandardsApril 1, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay Roads Division is looking for the public's feedback on the Maintenance Quality and Performance Standards, which set clear guidelines for services to maintain, repair, and replace the City's roads and sidewalks.
The survey results will be considered when the Standards are revised later this summer.
City Reminds Residents to be Safe if Discarded Needles are FoundMarch 31, 2016 - The arrival of spring and warmer temperatures uncover large amounts of litter on city streets and parks, and the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy is reminding residents to take care if they find a discarded needle.
Disposing of needles is not a core function of the Thunder Bay Police, so residents are being urged to contact Superior Points to deal with the discarded needles, or take some simple steps to safely dispose of the needles themselves.

Garbage and recycling collection moves back one day during the week of March 21 for all residents.
City Roads Crews Continue to Combat Heavy SnowfallMarch 17, 2016 - With yesterday's heavy snowfall continuing overnight, City roads crews will continue to plow, sand, and salt roads and sidewalks for the rest of the week.
As many as nine sanders and five graders were deployed across the City prior to 6 pm yesterday evening, when roads crews were required to cease operations to rest for a mandatory eight hour period before the 2 am plow.
Winter Operations in Full Force Clearing Slippery RoadsMarch 16, 2016 - City roads crews are out in full force with the heavy snowfall that began around 12 pm today. City sanders began operations at approximately 12:30 pm, to combat slippery road conditions; however the intensity of the snow created slush and packed very quickly causing some slippery conditions.
Don't Be Reckless: Dangerous Thin Ice ConditionsMarch 15, 2016 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is asking all residents to stay off any of the frozen bodies of water in the area. The recent increase in temperature is causing ice conditions to deteriorate and areas of open water are becoming visible.
