Bad Weather Conditions Delay Port Arthur Stadium Upgrades
May 19, 2017 - Freezing rain, freeze-thaw cycles and major rainfalls over the fall and winter season have caused delays to the completion of field improvements at Port Arthur Stadium in preparation for the XXVIII World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017 from Sept. 1 - 10, 2017.
Section of Central Avenue Closed Due to Water Main ConstructionMay 18, 2017 - A section of Central Avenue will be closed to through traffic due to the construction of a new trunk water main starting tomorrow, May 19. Central Avenue will be closed between Golf Links Road and Amber Drive.
Free Compost Available to Residents Beginning May 19May 18, 2017 - Compost will be available to all residents at no charge at the Solid Waste & Recycling Facility on Friday, May 19, while quantities last and weather permitting.
Access to the compost pick-up area is located east of the old landfill entrance on John Street Road.
River Safety Audits Being ConductedMay 16, 2017 - As part of the City of Thunder Bay's response to the Recommendations from the Seven Youth Inquest Jury, the City has been working with the Thunder Bay Police Service, Northern Nishnawbe Education Council, Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School, Keewaytinnok Okimakinak, Independent First Nations Alliance, Shibogama and Matawa Learning Centre, Nishnawbe Aski Nation, CN Rail Police, CP Rail Police, and Shelter House to improve river safety for youth in the city.

Reduced Load Restrictions Will Be Lifted MondayMay 12, 2017 -The Reduced Load Restrictions that were implemented on March 14 within the city will be lifted on Monday, May 15 at 8 am.
Restrictions are put in place annually to protect City roads from damage during the spring thaw.
City Archives Welcomes Nominations for Women's History MonthMay 10, 2017 - Mother's Day marks the opening of nominations to have a notable woman from our city's past featured on the Thunder Bay Archives online web exhibit for the upcoming Women's History Month.
In 2013, the City of Thunder Bay Archives launched an online exhibit recognize women who have contributed to the history and community of Thunder Bay.

City Conducting Needs Assessment on ConservatoryMay 10, 2017 - A drop-in Open House is taking place this evening at the Da Vinci Centre, for the public to learn more and provide input on the City's plans for the Centennial Botanical Conservatory.
The City is embarking on a plan to meet the future needs of the Conservatory, which was opened in 1967 by the Fort William Parks Board.
